Copper mod issue

Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and was looking for some help. I have a copper mod (pegasus clone) and have been having a problem. I clean it regularly, usually using vinegar and a toothbrush and/or a microfiber cloth. I do this in order to keep it looking shiny and also improve conduction. Needless to say, I clean the inside and outside of the tube and all threads, contacts and other pieces.

Anyway the issue I've been having is sometimes the mod will cease to function. I know what the problem is, but I just don't know how to prevent it from happening. The top battery pin screws into another piece that makes up the floating assembly for the atomizer side. The threads in between these two components turn green and causes the mod to not function at all. When I inspect it there is a green build up, sometimes even the day after I clean the whole thing. After cleaning those parts again it works fine. It doesn't seem like this should be happening so fast. I've checked with multiple atomizers when this happens and all exhibit the same behavior.

Does anyone have any ideas how this can be fixed more permanently? (Note: this doesn't happen everyday and sometimes it can go a week without occurring so it seems to be kind of random)

Thanks!

The green is oxidized copper.

If your atty is leaking juice some of them will corrode copper.

Vinegar is an acid and if any of it is left on the mod it will promote corrosion. If you get vinegar on this area you need to be sure you take it apart and clean it with water and dry it before you use it.

You can try Noalox. It is a grease that will keep some of the oxygen away and it contains zinc particles that cut through oxidation and help with conductivity.

Only clean the outside of your mod, as the inside won't really oxidize. I reccomend using a metal cleaner, because said above vinegar is an acid. I personally use Brasso.

Then throw some noalox on all the thread in your mod, button included. Be SUPER careful if you want to put it in the 510 though, because Noalox is conductive it might short your set up if the cream touches the negative and positive connectors.

I recommend just cleaning the threads with some brasso for the 510, and Noaloxing everything else to keep it healthy longer.

On a side note, have you tried letting it patina? I freaking love patinas...

Thank you guys very much for the quick replies! I have heard about Noalox and been wanting to try it. I will have to pick some up tomorrow along with Brasso and give both a shot. I have let the outside get tarnished and love the looks of it. Its just been hard to avoid cleaning the outside when using vinegar to clean the inside.

Good info about the vinegar though, I didn't think about it promoting oxidation. I will have to change my means of cleaning it. Maybe it won't tarnish/oxidize so fast if I use a polish? That's probably what is causing my problems. Also some e juice does get down there. I guess I will just have to be more careful with it.

Thank guys!
