Chikenbok, I don't know how long it's been since you've last been here, but things have changed quite a bit in the last several years. In any case, it's the rainy season, so a waterproof bag is a must. They're predicting a short, more intense season this year, but it's not like meteorologists are known for their accuracy here.

Mechs or eGos are not a bad option, just in case. batteries are not that common, so if one dies, keep that in mind. You shouldn't have problems going through customs with the gear, in any case. Just be mindful that, technically speaking, the law considers e-cigs here the same as normal cigarettes (yes, I know, absurd). So be prepared to have to go outside to use it if the owner (or the patrons) get antsy about it.

Mech - thanks for the heads up. I lived just south of San Jose working on a Sugar Cane farm for about 10 months when I was... 17-ish, went back again when I was 22 and now I'm coming back the third time (26) so it has been a few years. Thanks for the heads up regarding the incoming season and the waterproof gear. I checked out the homemade backpack 'mod' I built into my osprey (which has a waterproof case) and it worked out leak-free.

I know my girlfriend is going to bring a couple of her egos with her so I've got that option, and I also went ahead and ordered a KTS Mech so I don't have to bring any of my expensive mechs down with me. I figure 6-7 18650's should do the trick with two chargers.

I don't plan on vaping up in restaurants/hotels (where I can be seen) etc but thanks for the heads up once again. I've had some pretty rough times in central/south america so on that grounds, I think I'll be alright (hint - I took a bullet in the shoulder when I was in venezuela for sleeping on 'private property').

You can always stealth vape - I do that plenty almost everywhere. I know a few people who just don't care (since it's not smoking) and won't stop until someone tells them something. There are a few places in San Jose who are vape friendly that I go to, in case you're going to be east side of San Jose for any amount of time.

And this is how a Provari got me through 8 days in the rainforest.
