Hi there. I'm waiting for a Prometey 2 Atomizer (made by Titanium Mods from the Ukraine) in the mail, and trying to think ahead as to what I'm going to wick it with. In tank mode, the design of the atty requires that your wick have "bunny ears" so that the wick stands up inside the atty and makes contact with a filler material above, which is of course saturated with e-liquid. Clearly silica would work well in this device because it holds its shape/remains firm enough to stay in a stand-up position. However, I'm not a silica kind of girl. I love my cotton and I want to find a way to use the Prometey with cotton (or hemp maybe).

So calling all experts... For those who have tried all the various options, can you tell me please a bit about cotton yarn, cord or twine?
Best brand? Link to buy? Boiling rituals?

'Peaches and Creme' as good as people say? Color to buy? (Is the white bleached? Maybe ecru = better?)

Also up for debate: organic hemp twine. Heard of it - never used it. Seems like it would work well and outlast cotton yarn (hardier)... but where do you get it and can you ever get the natural flavor out of it by boiling? I went in on a co-op not long ago for some hemp (the fluffy-pile-of-hemp stuff, not cord or twine), and no matter how many times I boil it, I can't seem to get rid of the flavor. So with that in mind, please share your hemp stories as well.
Thanks guys! Vape on. :vapor::)

The way I built one was to have enough cotton yarn wick to pull up around the outside of the filler wrap... to hold it in place. Takes a bit of practice, to get the yarn up the sides and not into the threads, or not drop down onto the deck - but it's doable.
I'm sure, had I had it in my possession longer, to play with different methods, I would have had several good solutions sorted out. They're a nice atty by the way... you'll like it.

I was probably in the same hemp fiber co-op as you... and I never could get the hemp taste out either. Apparently, we can taste it, while others cannot.

I've also tried - what Hemp Trader calls "Silver", which is the hemp product before it's made into yarn - and it's much better and easier to deal with (IMO) than the fiber hemp we tried, but still not as 'neutral' as cotton for flavor.
I keep going back to cotton. Balls, Koh Gen Do make-up pads, yarn (and yes, Peaches N' Cream 'ecru' is fine) - doesn't really matter, cotton is about as good as it gets... other than XC-116 ceramic wick that is. :p

I soaked my Hemp fiber in "Oxy Clean" for 24 Hrs., and then boiled it 4 times and changed the water each time and it works great. I keep the clean material in a jar of VG to keep it moist and workable.

This stuff is great on the Russian 91, Taifun, Kafun. Doesnt be burned like cotton, and flavors come out great. I also am using a vertical coil.
Hope this might help you with what you have.
Good Luck in your Vaping Adventures!!! :toast:

Thanks everyone... Awesome feedback.

Do you all boil your cotton yarn, and have a link to a good source?

I use the Peaches and Cream, ecru, from Walmart. It comes unwrapped, so I do boil it for about 25mins. I cut a few strands first, and then hang them in the kitchen to dry - they dry very fast. It's easy to just pull the number of strands you need for the coil. As to flavor, I can't tell much difference between this and sterile cotton (also boiled). But I'm using this in an RM2 so ymmv.

I use Organic Cotton Hemp Wick most of the time when I'm using a yarn build. I also have Peaches n' Cream from Walmart, but even boiled, I find that the Peaches n' Cream has a certain taste to it for a short while, whereas the cotton & hemp blend does not seem to. In some builds I use both since they are different sizes - Peaches n' Cream is bigger. Probably my preferred usage of yarns is as a so-called "flavor wick" on top of a coil that has been wicked with sterilized cotton. More recently I've been using XC-116 instead of cotton yarn for that purpose, though, and the XC-116 seems to allow the sterilized cotton to last about 50% longer (3 tanks with XC-116 instead of 2 when using yarn as a "flavor wick").
