IMO, cotton delivers a cleaner and more consistent vape. One of the main reasons is due to it's absorbency, which allows it to really soak up your liquid. As it soaks, it expands, which is why you use less cotton in a build than you would silica, mesh etc. The more liquid that gets to the coil, the more liquid that vaporizes and the better the throat hit.
I've boiled cotton and cotton yarn and I've not noticed much of a difference. Cotton just tends to work better for me and quite a few others and the boost in throat hit comes with it. I vape 10-12mg and cotton helps keep it consistent, so you may want to consider diluting your liquid if none of the vendors offer anything lower or perhaps try another type of build. When the coil is near the top of the atty, you really don't have a cooling chamber, like you would on a Kayfun, Protank etc, so you're also getting what feels like TH from the extra heat as well.
You could also make a special request. Any vendor that wants to earn your repeat business should be more than happy to accommodate.
Sooooo went cotton on my rdas and gennies and now 6mg juices gives hurt TH and makes me nauseous after awhile.. Is that right?
Using CVS rolled absorbent cotton not boiled. I dont wanna go down in nic cos most my vendors dont have less than 6 -_-
