It's just general use cotton.

Opinions differ as to what you should use.

Organic stuff will still often contain some residue of pesticide or bleaching agents, so I'd personally recommend repeatedly boiling any you buy, no matter where you get it. Others disagree.

I think cotton pleats are probably easiest to use. Definitely don't get pads, they're a hassle and you waste a huge amount. Cotton twine is said to work too, though I've never tried it.

I've been using this cotton from CVS Pharmacy CVS Rolled Cotton - CVS pharmacy. Hopefully you should be able to find something similar.

I've also been rebuilding my atomizers exclusively with this cotton for the past year and a half and still have plenty of cotton left from the one box that I bought. Since it is labeled and Sterile and USP, I have not bothered to boil it.
