This looks cool. If your ever in Walmart look for merchindized cotton (i might have spelt that wrong). It's organic, undied, and ready for use.
Mercerized cotton has been chemically altered to make it more lustrous and strong. It's great for crocheting, but I don't know whether it's a good idea for wicks?

Right. Mercerized, knew someone here would correct us! vast vapors told me that you want to use non-mercerized cotton yarn. The only non-mercerized cotton yarn that Walmart used to carry it was made by Martha Stewart and that stuff is gone now. They also told me that as long as it says organic or raw, go ahead and boil it and just pay attention to the water. If there is any sort of heavy oil or sediment on top of the water then there's heavy additives being used and it's probably not a good idea to use.

Peaches & Cream yarn, which is available at Walmart, as well as other retailers, is a NON-mercerized cotton yarn.
Yes. Most Lily brand cotton yarns (Sugar & Cream, Peaches & Cream) are not mercerized. They're available at pretty much any craft store, with the exception of high-end knit shops.

I recently discovered by accident that cotton balls work just fine for me. My mini Protank was leaking and I just needed to replace the flavor wick. I was out of new heads and decided to use whatever was on hand. I replaced the flavor wick with a little of one of my cosmetic cotton balls and it solved the problem, so I replaced the flavor wicks on several others.
It worked beautifully on all of them and I was so proud of myself. Thought I had made a grand discovery. Then I started to worry that it might not be safe, so I posted my concern on the forum. Wow! No grand discovery after all. The people on this forum have been doing this for a while and seem to have tried just about everything. Someone is going to know the answer to just about any question you may have about vaping. More than one poster suggested that I use the Peaches & Cream yarn from Walmart. Went out next day and bought some. Haven't used it yet (cotton ball wick still working ) but trying it next time I get in a pinch. Gonna check this yarn out too.
