I have been coughing a bit for a couple weeks now ever since I have just cut back on smoking, but now that I am virtually not smoking at all I can't get any damn sleep because I have this nagging cough. I've read that it's due to the cilia regrowing back in your throat. Have any of you experienced this, and if so, how long did it last? I am half tempted to begin smoking again just to get rid of it.Just joking.

Every persons body reacts differantly, for some the coughing could last only a few days, others maybe a couple of weeks, and the rare few not at all. It would never hurt to go to the Doc to have it checked out or even to take a cough surpressant for a few days to see if that helps at all. Depending on how long & much you smoked prior to vaping, you have a tar buildup in your lungs that will break up thus leading to a cough.

Don't forget to drink plenty of water... especially before bedtime.... it will help some with the coughing and sore throats that many new vapers experience...

Also, your body has to adjust/expel the old gunk.

Also, some people are sensitive to either, PG, VG, or some flavors.

Every time you smoke a cigarette, the cilia in your lungs are paralyzed. They start to "wake up" again when you quit. Phlegm production might also increase when you quit, and as the cilia begin functioning again they start to move the phlegm out. This could be the reason you're coughing so much. I highly suggest seeing a doctor just to be on the safe side, and let the doctor know that you've started vaping.

You could also be coughing more because it sounds like you're smoking on top of vaping. Still, go see a doctor just to make sure that everything is alright, especially since you say this has been happening for a couple of weeks!

vivic you are probably right.
similar thing i was going trough but just for couple of days(i think)
because of your body is gets used to another "environment"
When i say probably i mean maybe it's taking to long, so maybe
you should check it out with doc.
anyway vaping is better than smoking

Has anybody had positive news from their doctors after starting vaping? I don't have insurance, so I don't see a doctor regularly. Just curious. I'd be willing to do a "Supersize Me" type thing with doctors as proof of vaping benefits.

Yesterday was my first whole day without an analog. (Started out 15+ a day, down to 4 or 5, down to 2 or 3, down to 1, now zero for 2 days.) The past couple of weeks (since starting to vape) I have been hacking up crud from my lungs. I am not as short of breathe, and the coughing is very productive - not like a smoker's cough. I am assuming that I am going through withdrawal symptoms from reducing my analog consumption.

If it persists, I will probably see a doctor, as should anybody. My rule is, if something lasts for over 2 weeks, there may be a problem that will require some sort of treatment. Especially during this time of year, bronchitis is pretty common for smokers to get, even ones who recently quit.
