I don't think it's the government looking to kill vaping, as much as the Tobacco Industry looking to either control or kill it. I remember seeing Obama using an e-cig during his first term in office. Local government is seeing the e-cig community grow, and they're seeing all that tax money they generate from the sale of analogs decrease. Someone "on the other side" is looking at the long term results--if you have half of the analog smokers in the country convert to e-cigs, how much money do they stand to lose?

Control first, to tax it; if they can't do that, then they'll do their best to kill vaping.

I don't think they'll outlaw them, more like tax them into oblivion. It doesn't make sense to outlaw them because there's no proof that they cause any harm.

I don't think Harm plays much of a role in any of this.

Now Tax Dollars, now that is something to consider.

Yes you can build a ecig from scratch. Protected or IMR battery, holder(flash lights work well), switch, wire, kanthal, and wicking material(stainless steel, cotton or silica). Don't forget the venting and off switch! Check the modding section and Box Mods - Advanced E-Cigs for ideas.

Juice, you will be able to find PG, VG and flavors without issue. FDA will mostly like not be able to remove those items from the market. The nicotine however is a little different. Extracting nicotine from tobacco is a fairly complicated process that is also not very effective and VERY dangerous. There are several threads of discussion from those who have done it and most have concluded it's far too much hassle for a DIYer.

I have a 500ml bottle of 100mg/ml USP nicotine, which should give me plenty of time to figure out a source should the vapepocalypse come.

FYI, If the FDA does end up regulating/banning nicotine solutions, just ordering them online from another country would be "boot legging". It may sound like a somewhat romantic throwback to the alcohol prohibition days but will come with a prison term. Not a good fall back plan.

Could they? Sure. The gov't can, and will, do anything they want. However, even if they do all is not lost for a couple of reasons.

1. Nicotene inhalers. They're marketed as nicotene replacement therapy, but they're kinda like vaping. I suspect eliquid could be made from those.
2. The existence of nicotene inhalers makes me think they're not too worried about it.
3. Blu was bought by a Big Tobacco company (Lorillard). To date, they haven't done anything new with the company, it seems as though it's rolling along just like it always was. Seems like more companies would be interested in picking up e-cig companies as a way of holding onto potential customers. If a person quits smoking and starts vaping, and you own an e-cig company, you may end up retaining them as a customer. If a person quits smoking and e-cigarettes are illegal, there's no chance you'll retain them.

This is actually what I meant when I asked how I can make my own nic juice. Sure PG, VG, flavorings, hardware can't be outlawed individually. Therefore you can make your own stuff, but the nicotine solution is what I meant.

And "boot legging" would still be illegal. Wouldn't it?
