I have my VTR and I love it. Great for dropping in my pocket and using at work. Great vape that can take a scratch or two. Also started getting into mech mods with a hand me down piece from a friend. Personally I don't prefer the mech mod compared to the vv/vw but love building my coils and sub ohms. I was suggested to try a vw like the dna, Hana, ipv, segelei, etc. So I would like to be able to sub ohm but still enjoy throwing my nautilus tank up top and just vape away and all regulated and easy to change my settings. So with a $250 budget and all your knowledge I would love some help. Thanks! (I prefer box mods but still open to other ideas)

I don't have a regulated box, but ipv3, sigelei 100watt plus, cloupor t8 are the three I would look at if I was going to get one. Out of these though, I think the Sigelei 100 Plus is the one I would choose, because it has a voltage range that I would use (greater than 100 watt is excessive) and it fires down to .15 ohm, which allows for all of my regular builds.

Since you are used to a hefty device, a sigelei 100+ is only about $90. I've been vaping mine pretty heavy since noon and after 9 hours, the charge is still at 69%. The only feature I wish it had is usb charging but with this kind of battery life with 2 18650s, I'm not worried about it. There are higher end devices especially considering your price range, but I dug the design of the 100+ and the price was on point. With the money left over I had budgeted for a more powerful box mod, I was able to pick up a lemo drop and 240ml of juice all for around $170.

The power of the box I'm not sure is the most important thing. 100 watts sounds nice but wow, I don't think I'll crank over 60 and even then that's high for me. I feel like the biggest factor between the vapor shark, the sigelei, the ipv and so on is really just the chip? Would any of you agree and have reasoning to choose one chip over another?

The power range of a power supply is a pretty important factor to consider. I would figure out what the watt range is of your most power hungry atty and only consider mods that cover that range. If there's a dual coil rda in the mix, 30, 40 and 50 watt mods won't allow for using the full potential of most of those kinds of atty's. The next step up is 100. Don't know of any in between. And just cause you have 100 watts doesn't mean you have to use it. The dual battery design of the sig 100 provides long battery life when used at lower settings. I'm not trying to push something on you, but getting something that drains batts too quick or falls short on available power could be seriously aggravating. Better to have too much than not enough. Just some stuff to consider. Good luck.
