After commenting in another post I for the sake of satisfying my curiosity on the matter I did an experiment I closed my eyes and took a vape and kept my eyes closed for both the inhale and exhale no peaking for clouds and then 15 minutes later using the same mod I took a vape keeping my eyes closed again but didn't fire the coil "i removed the battery" I just pulled air in thru the atty so that I perfectly mimicked the entire vape experience without sight and I still found the experience to be the same minus the full flavor of the atomized juice to let me know that I had inhaled something deeply and without eyes open to confirm that I exhaled a plume of milky white vapor. There was still some flavor essence and the draw was the same because airflow is airflow and the exhale was the same great release of in-taken air. The point is that the physical act was the same both times and the final outcome was the same.

I think that our addiction to smoking was never really about nicotine but rather the deep breathing exercise that it involves and the fact that when we exhaled the smoke and seen it billowing out in front of us that it resembled the exorcism of the stress that we were trying to relieve. We could say that our stress went up in smoke if you will, I don't think any of us smoked because of the nicotine at first I think the nicotine addiction is a byproduct of the actual addiction which is the ritual of smoking to relieve stress. I believe that we can experience the same level of satisfaction without the nicotine and intend to get non-nicotine juice to test the theory. Other than the fact that I would be removing the stimulant from the equation I don't think the experience will be any less satisfactory.

I started vaping at 24mg nicotine, I now drip 2mg so it isn't like the nicotine was as important to me as the actual act of smoking or now vaping. What do you think as long as you can inhale deeply and see the milky white plumes when exhaling do you think you could vape non-nicotine and still enjoy the experience and be totally satisfied with it?

I have cut down to 2 mg nic in the 2 years I have been vaping. I started out at 18. I still like the slight taste of the nic but I can also go hours and hours without vaping with no cravings.

I just simply enjoy the act of vaping but don't really care for strictly zero nic. I figure that it can't hurt me anymore then all the chemicals in the food we eat so why not?

Unfortunately for me the only thing to stop my chain vaping 6mg is to drip 12mg. Then I'm good for a while. I completely agree with you though that a lot of psychological therapy is going on as I watch the visible manifestation of my reward pathway activation in the form of vapor billowing forth from my various facial orifices. (<- tried to make that as much as a mouthful as the cloud I just blew :D)

I wouldn't say that you've been mimicking the vape experience exactly if you're not exhaling vapor. I believe that part of smoking addiction is due to the habit of actual smoking, similarly to other instances of illicit, intravenous drug use. However these habits are only reinforced and conditioned by your body to like them due to the drug. You can help uncondition your body by repeating these habits without the presence of the drug, but it doesn't eliminate the dependence you still have for it.

If you honestly think you can quit vaping or smoking by removing the drug and repeating your habits then by all means try it. Zero mg Nicotine and herbal cigarettes aren't hard to find. It just won't last that long.

Each person has a chemical and Mental makeup that makes them INDIVIDUALS.

Everyone including the FDA needs to realize this.

Glad your experiment worked once for you. You need to continue testing to prove it a correct Hypothesis in Your case and test a thousand or so others to get true results. Even then there will be exceptions as in Andria's case.

I feel kinda pointless... The thing that bothers me most about a liquid if its got no throat hit. I need a nice strong throat hit. 12 is too much for me... but 6 is good. 3 is a bit too little. But lately... i find its easier to go without a vape for longer.

as to the question... yea.. I mean, I dont think I would go back to smoking... but i might... Not sure.
Right now I have a craving for a vape...

Cigarettes have more than just nicotine in them that make them much more addictive for me than vaping nicotine is for me. The blood nic level also rises much faster with cigs. I was definitely chemically addicted when I smoked. Vaping nic took the edge off the addiction for me just enough to make quitting smoking possible. I don't know if I could have done it without nic.

The first year I vaped I reduced my nic levels to zero and have been there mostly for the last year and a half. I vape zero nic at least 95% of the time.

I feel it took me about 15 months to really get rid of the cigarette addiction. I feel I have no addiction to vaping.

Honest views, I just believe that people are made to believe that the only addiction to overcome with smoking has been placed on the nicotine and that isn't the case from my view point. If nicotine were the only addiction related to smoking then why didn't the patch work it replaced the nicotine but never stopped my craving a cigarette? I just didn't have the quote unquote nicotine fits. I still smoked and hey not for nothing if you didn't take the patch off before falling asleep you would have some intensely weird dreams.
This is the only thing that has ever worked in my not going back to cigs and it is because it addresses all the mechanics that were involved in smoking. I just think all nicotine dependency is beatable but you have to have the mind set that you really don't need it before you can get off it. This is only my opinion and I fault no-one if they say that they couldn't do without it, because that was my thought too. I just see things differently now especially since I have had no issues with having reduced my nicotine levels by 22mg in just over a year and I really don't have any adverse effects from not having high doses of nicotine in my juice.

I used nothing except 18mg since I started vaping a year ago. On my last order I got a few bottles of 12mg. So far I've only used the 12 at home because I was scared to out with it, in case it didn't work or something. But what happened was I couldn't even tell the difference. I'm planning to try nothing but 12 for a few days and see how it goes.

I'm not scared of nicotine. From what I've read it isn't a particularly bad substance on its own. But if I can cut down why not. Except that I keep hearing it might have some anti Alzheimer's effect. That rumour has been going around for decades, and I have a history of it in my family. I wish somebody would figure out the truth about that one.

There is some truth to what OP is saying. The "ritual" of inhaling/exhaling is very relaxing, add in some flavor, the hand movement and really gives you something to do, when you do nothing. Keeps you busy, while relaxing you. I also believe having your hand close to your chest and mouth gives a sense of protection, similar to having your arms crossed ( less vulnerable feeling ). Of course if you add nicotine to the whole process, it gives that extra oomph of tranquility.
