I've been talking to my son about vaping, and would like to send him a vaping starter kit and juice but have a few questions.

He has to take Coumadin daily, and may be on it the rest of his life. Along with dietary concerns, the doctor knows that he smokes and told him to not make any major changes in his smoking habit because it might affect him in an adverse manner. I understand that, but he's increased his nicotene levels since he started rolling his own cigs due to tobacco prices. And, smoking analogs is a big no for those on Coumadin if you research the drug thoroughly.

Does anyone here take Coumadin or Warfarin on a regular basis and vape?

Did you have any problems transitioning from analogs to vaping?

My wife is on Warfarin and has been vaping since January. When she told her doctor about the switch to vaping, he was thrilled. Her INR has been fairly stable and no adjustments in her dosage have been needed.

Now, granted...everyone is different. A patient's INR can be affected by many things. Sometimes it can go whacko for no apparent reason. I 100% agree with Domino. Your son need to talk to his doctor. Maybe they can set up a more frequent INR check for a few months, just until they know for sure how his body is going to react.

Warfarin and Coumadin are very tricky drugs. I have taken a few courses and read a few studies on them because of my wife's condition. What I found is that you can read all the texts you want, look at all the patient histories you want, consult with all the colleagues you want...but the only thing that's for sure is that nothing is for sure when it comes to Warfarin and Coumadin.

Oh, and as far as my wife's transition from analogs to vaping...no problem. She dropped the analogs the day her first set of gear and juice arrived and hasn't looked back since.

Great advice from the last two responses, he needs to talk with his Primary Healthcare Provider, mainly for the reason stated above, (monitoring protrombin time more closely).

I'm a senior nursing student so even though you're probably aware of this fact, I still feel obliged to state that Coumadin is weakly bound to plasma protein, and is easily knocked off by many foods/medications. This increases the amount of the unbound medication and leads to the same dosage he usually gets being way too much. His doc should be able to keep him at the proper therapeutic level with close monitoring and if the worst happens he'll get the dose of Vitamin K he needs.
