OK, just shooting in the dark here... what would happen if I took a good qual carto, maybe one of those double coils that can handle high voltage, and connected it directly to my car battery?

Alternatively, could you connect a carto to like an AA batt or a cell phone batt, in a pinch?

I figure, using proper wires, that I could technically hook a carto/atty to any battery if I was able to properly touch all of the connectors on the batt/atty, yes?

It could be done. But would result in a burnt taste if the carto were able to handle it, and that is a big IF, Most carts coils would snap, even so without a way to turn it off the plastic would melt if you left it on too long. But, I do dream of a day when my entire bedroom is fogged with vapor coming from the floorboards. No buttons, just constant vapor, all day long. You breathe and you get a delicious atomic cinnacide every time ;)

hahaha I like the sound of that! OK so the car thing is out... I was trying to prep for worst-case situations, like if all my batts go dead or break at the same time or something; My cell battery is a 1000mah 3.7v & I would rather be able to vape than call people, so suppose I'll try that if ever necessary. I always have wire hanging around in the car/house.

That's a great idea!

Does anyone know of any mods that use cell phone batteries ?

Not to sound smart but if you like your face you wouldnt use anything but a high quality AW IMR or AW IC type Batt on any Mod your using, and if not AW maybe a Redilast Batt or an MNKE, or LiFePO4, anything else is of a lower quality and not as safe to use pretty much, ( though there are some others ) you definitely dont want to be using a non re-charable anything with an e-cig and pretty much only the Batts I mentioned, there was supposedly a major accident just this week with a Mod blowing up in someones face because of using possibly a pair of the wrong types of Batts, this isnt funny and needs to be taken very seriously in my opinion, stick with the AW Batts and your odds go WAY DOWN on ever having an accident. just saying, and I know your post was meant to be kind of on the fun side, just dont want anyone getting any ideas that doesnt know what there doing.

Search the modders forum, there's been more than a few mods made using cell phone cases. The issue with cell phone batts is that even IF they're 3.7v, most don't have the current discharge needed. There ARE mods that use square-pack batts, and some I'm sure that even use cell phone batts, but they're generally not very common (due to cost of a battery that will handle the requirements of powering an e-cig). Radio Control cars/planes batteries can do it, but those batteries tend to cost quite a bit more, and not be any smaller or better performing than what is typically used in mods.

So yes, you CAN mod a cell phone (heck you can mod a zippo lighter or electric toothbrush!). IIRC there was even a cell phone mod done years ago where not only could you vape, but the cell phone still worked as a phone!

In a pinch, you could use rechargable NiMh batteries. 3 would give you 3.6V, 4 would give you 4.8V. If you are even a little bit handy, it wouldn't be too hard to build a 5V passthru that you could pull into your car's cigarrette lighter socket IF it will put out enough amps. My car's accessory socket (no lighter, no ashtray) say's 12V 10A; more than enough to power the right regulator but that is by no means an industry standard.
