Current limit

Hey all I just got in to RBAs and was considering wrapping a low ohm coil like 0.8ohms or so like some do on their mechanical mods. Has anyone tried this or happen to know what the current limit on the SB switch is?

It might be easiest to go to the Altsmoke site and fill out a service ticket with your question. It might take a little time, but at least you'll know for sure before you get any surprises. I suspect that it will be fine as it is the heaviest duty wired mod available.

I have a 1.2 ohm coil atm.

Lowest I have gone yet.

In case anyone else was curious about this, I wrote to Altsmoke and this is their reply:

"The switch can handle 96 Watts. The spring will collapse at about 7 Amps. So the 5.25 Amps that atty pulls would be fine. Chad "

Eh, I started at .8 with an AGA T2. Loving it so far. Had one semi-scary experience where the top popped off the AGA. Was expecting a blown coil, vented battery or something. Still don't know what happened, a bit gun-shy at the moment.

Think I figured out what the explosion was. Just tried dry burning my wick to check hotspots, and it caught fire. That means the power is perfect, right?

No, that usually means you are producing too much heat to vape your juice and thus is is catching fire instead of vaporizing. AKA you have a hot spot.
