My buddy's birthday is coming up and i was wondering if anyone offers custom engraving? i would really like to get him something along the lines of a trident or igo W4 and have his nickname engraved on it in thick print.

Not sure where you're located, but try to find a local trophy shop. Most, anymore, have laser engravers. Be prepared to pay fer dem parallel $tream$ of photon$. Hopefully, you'll find an ol' timer that can do da ol' fashioned bit engraving on da ¢heap.
All the jewelry stores I have been in do engraving also. Maybe a jewelry store at the mall. Good luck to ya. That is a nice touch for your friend.
