Cutting 6v down to 5v?

Hi All - I am clueless when it comes to batteries, volts, etc.

All I know is I have a Prodigy V2 which is a 5v mod and I bought the Chameleon with sleeve to have a HV backup.

Unfortunately it turns out that 6v is too high for me. I exclusively use cartomizers and at 6v they taste like they're dying when I know they aren't.

I tried the Chameleon at 3.7 but I already have a Protege at 3.7 and 3.7 just isn't enough for me I've been spoiled by the 5v

Is there any tinkering I can do that will cut the voltage of the Chameleon with sleeve down to 5v?

Hi Mike - thanks for your reply!

The problem is I'm not technically using an atty - I am using cartomizers and want to continue to use them exclusively.

I know I can get a HV atty that will cut the voltage but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that.

With my Prodigy V2 I just slap the carto on and I'm good to go.

If nothing can be done - I guess I'll just have to resell the Chameleon and buy a backup Prodigy when they're back in stock :(

Sorry, I'm not sure HOW the Prodigy is a 5v device. It uses two 3v batts and the site says it runs at 4.5-5.25v but does not list HOW. There might be a resistor/diode in the unit or just the resistance of the parts?

You could add some resistance to the Chameleon though probably not easily nor advised. So short of a higher resistance atty I'm afraid I don't know of a way. If you were using 3.7v batts I'd suggest switching to 3.0v but I assume you already are. I've heard some nice things about the new AW brand batteries and high discharge batts but I'd don't have enough experience or knowledge to speak on whether that'd be an option.

Hopefully Isaac or someone can think of something!

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Never should have bought the damn Prodigy it's RUINED me for anything else.

It's amazing how a volt here or there can change everything for the better or the worse.

Thanks for your time, Mike - I REALLY appreciate it.

Just wish I coulda thought of a valid solution for you as I'm loving my Chameleon.

No problem, I knew it was a long shot . . . and I hope no one takes this as being a problem with the Chameleon because it is a FANTASTIC 3.7 mod and I'm sure it's great @ 6v for those who do use attys, drip, etc. and "Mr. and Mrs. Ikenvape" are WONDERFUL

What's the going rate for a used Chameleon anyways? Err... BAD MIKE!!!

LOL - don't think I could give much of a discount on something that isn't even 3 days old yet ;)

I will probably actually just hang onto it - my Protege's switch never worked properly and I'm waiting on a new switch fix AND 3.7 does seem to be passable with the new vapor4life premium cartos so I will have to learn to go with 3.7 from time to time because 5v sucks cartos quick and if I don't learn to wean myself a bit my e-cig habit will compete with my old cig habit $$$ wise.

Thanks again, Mike - it doesn't matter to me that you don't have a solution for me - it matters that you were willing to help. I'm just a stubborn carto lover.

Aw Miss Yanky! You are so sweet and I can't thank you enough for the help your were giving me yesterday. :hubba:
Ah ha! I was just going to ask you firstly what kind of cartomizers are you using. They say that the resistance has been lowered on the premium cartomizers. To make 3.7V feel a bit stronger. The ones I'm using from samples from the manufacture that we're going with has a stronger resistance than the premiums. Meaning juice consumption isn't any where near so much. I brought this up with the manufacture on several occasions, even as far as copy and pasting methods from members on how it can be done easily. So he's working on it. ;) Carto's are my choice too! Love them.
Ps. you guys were up Late!! I promised Val to go to bed early last night lol Didn't work out so well, just laid there thinking of everything till around 3ish.

Hey Yanks! There's no need to sell your Chameleon... we've just received your perfect solution... We got in a usb pass-through that gives you exactly 5volts. Isaac was just testing his out and literally like 2 seconds ago was like "I see why she's loves 5 volts!" We will be getting our pictures taken and putting them up on the website soon!!:D:D

Kewl! I'll have to check it out but I do already have a PT that I really like but I did just ordered the Kensington USB Power Pack based on some recommendations here on the forum so I may start looking for a new PT and well, I am a compulsive shopper.

Thanks Mrs & Mrs. Iken

Really? Yanks? you are seriously thinking of selling your Chameleon. I am stunned. If I had not already bought 2, I would take yours off your hands. I picked up a second one about 2 months after number one. I must have a back up in case my switch needs work (doubt it but, you never know) or the adapters give me some sheet (doubt that also). I am so sorry it isn't working out for you. I have been waiting on the accessories so my chameleon can do it's thing at the next level and lo and behold it has arrived. I am so watching the website for the upload!!!!!!!
