Really? Yanks? you are seriously thinking of selling your Chameleon. I am stunned. If I had not already bought 2, I would take yours off your hands. I picked up a second one about 2 months after number one. I must have a back up in case my switch needs work (doubt it but, you never know) or the adapters give me some sheet (doubt that also). I am so sorry it isn't working out for you. I have been waiting on the accessories so my chameleon can do it's thing at the next level and lo and behold it has arrived. I am so watching the website for the upload!!!!!!!

Yup.

Seriously, I don't want anyone to think it's because the Chameleon is not a fine product - It is and the ability to change from 3.7 to 6v with the same device by just adding a simple sleeve is excellent. If I were willing to go through the hassle of attys and dripping the Chameleon would be a NO BRAINER.

My problem is I am not willing to go through much of a hassle as that is what makes me reach for an analog instead and 3.7 is just too low for me and 6v is just too high to use with cartos.

My Prodigy V2 is my version of vaping Nirvana and I would have bought a 2nd if puresmoker wasn't sold out so instead of waiting I bought the Chameleon intending to use it a 6v (knowing 3.7 is not enough for me and knowing I already have 3.7v mod that I spent around 100 bucks on that pretty much collects dust) I never thought the difference between 1v would make such a huge difference but it does. :(

Many people on these forums call 5v the "sweet spot" I just didn't listen.

My issue has nothing to do with the actual product it has to do with the voltage.

I think a 5V option for the Chamelion (under battery power), is a fantastic feature request for this MOD. It's schtick is to be "one of the most universal devices out there". The extension sleeve, collection of adpaters, and the PT go a long way in delivering on that promise.

Unfortunately stepping things down from 6v to 5v could be tricky w/o some circuitry... which goes against its "100% Wireless, Solderless and Simplicity at it's finest".

Then again... I wonder if a resistant wafer (of some kind) could be slipped between the battery and the bottom battery contact to cause a one voltage drop across the wafer at that point in the circuit. Given an expected load of roughly 2.5 ohms for the atty, basically put an 0.5 ohm resistor in series at that point (or any point in the circuit really) w/o using wire or solder. This extra resistor would need to dissipate about 1W of power. Some solid state circuitry could almost certainly step the voltage down w/o being as lossy, but that would certainly involve wires and solder and such.

Is putting some kind of resistor in series at that point a possibility?
SILICON WAFERS AND THIN FILMS

EDIT: Btw, i'm pretty much sold on the Chameleon as the MOD for me. Really appreciate the small size and the set of adapters, and the button placement on the side nicely recessed. I'm looking for an easily pocketable 3.7 volt device that lasts all day. Not sure which atty (or cartimozers maybe) I'll use with it, but that's part of this MODs appeal, I don't have to know that up front.

EDIT2: Ironically, I know I'll at least try the m401 atty with the Chameleon since that's the model I started out with and have stocked up parts for. But alas there is no purpose built Chameleon adapter for the m401 atty, so I'll definitely be getting an xxx/401 thread adapter too.

EDIT3: Oh cool... i see that an m401 adapter is planned for this device :)

LOL Those edits were great!
#3 however, was a mistake of sorts :( I thought that the V4 adapter meant 401, but it wasn't. A bad assumption on my part. The V4 is for GreenCig G120 and G500 cartomizers.

Your thoughts on the silicone wafers are extremely intriguing VM. I have been on a search for, what I thought was a metal disc that has the ability to drop that watt. I'll shoot an email straight away to pcasilicon and we'll see our options. Thank you ever so much for this tip!

Sorry been outta the office/home a lot lately so forgive me if this has been posted/considered:

The was a thread in the Mod section I read awhile back where they showed how to make a graphite+glue disc (using a large washer as the mold). You just mixed graphite with glue and poured it into the middle of a washer and the resistance could be varied based on how much graphite was used (the more, the less the resistance).

Maybe something along those lines? Also, different metals conduct differently. Is there a part that could be replaced to change the attys wattage for those that want to?

It's late, been a rough couple days, I'm tired, brain not working clearly.... forgive me if this post isn't useful!

Oh well... thread adapter it is then :) Based on my experience with the m401 passthru (~3.2v), I don't think the m401 atty likes to run at higher voltage. I end up with burnt tastes out of my sweeter liquids far too easily. I was planning on trying the m401 attys with the LiFePO4 RCR123A 3.0V battery.

Curious to know if others have found that to be a good combo?

Good luck with your quest for a way to add in a resistive layer to the circuit. I really have no idea if a Si (or SiC) wafer is a technical possibility, or what the cost would be. A quick google search for turned them up.

Another approach would be 2 16340 batteries at 2.5v? Is there such a battery?

Mike it's very great to see you! Val was reading off your posts to me in the car and we were just dying of laughter. That post is Extremely useful! thank you very much! Take a load off pal and have a good rest, I hope all the troubles will be gone when you awake my friend. Gooogling now :D

I have yet to find 2.5v batteries but it can be a possibility if we can source the right person. The problem with sourcing batteries is that you can't go directly to the manufacture because they charge more than the distributors. I did find a 4.5v battery that has an out put of 5, but it's wide and lacks in the rechargeable field. Duracell 4.5V Alkaline Battery at REI.com
I contacted the company you linked us up to and sent in inquiry. I left the window open for any type of suggestions. Fingers are crossed on this one in the hopes of them making something unique for the Chameleon. If there's a way, I'm sure they can figure out the best procedure to go with. I was thinking inside the adapter compartment personally. We'll see though. Again I can't thank you enough for this point. :D
