Revelation 2:10 (KJV)
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
– Romans 8:31-32

1 Peter 4:12-13 (KJV)
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

I have often wondered how I would hold up under persecution. I can't fathom denouncing Jesus. But Peter did, and he is my favorite disciple. That man could open his mouth and put both feet into it.....just like me. I have an ongoing disease of 'hoof in mouth.' Repentence is the key for that. I can't help but wonder, though, about those poor Christians being eaten by lions. Gives me the shivers.

Stop to think about 'He that spared not His own Son.' That reminds me of the unsaved who cry out 'if God is so loving, where was He during X tragedy or Y tragedy.' I pray I remember Romans 8, so that I can remind them, and myself. Food for thought.:|

    No you can't
God sees us as being the Righteousness of Jesus - we can't do nothing wrong in Gods sight. For it is written.

    Isaiah 44:22
I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.

I have often wondered how I would hold up under persecution.

Yet satan persecutes those who believe Jesus 24/7's

Since we know who Jesus is and what He said and He sent the Holy spirit to us. How much different am I then Peter. As Peter came to understand how right Jesus was and what Jesus told him would come to past - SO DID I.

Makes sense to me. Which disciple is your favorite, if you have one, and why?:)

I think I was prettier when I was born than I am now! It's like: 'Don't look Ethyl, but it was too late....' Boy, I just showed my age....almost older than dirt! I am expecting to glow in the radiance of Jesus. His radiance will cast upon us all. Folks, we are going to be beautiful because HE is beautiful! Now how exciting is that!!!!!!!!! How do I know that? Because of 1 Corinthians 2:10! GLORY!

Paul, IMO: I guess it's because from the start he knew that rules, traditions and customs were of no importance and his message on Jesus was Salvation also that he taught that all knowledge and guidance comes from the Holy Spirit and he was only a vehicle God used. He acknowledged where he came from and knew what his mission was and went to the gentile nation, no small matter and preached the free gift of salvation.

Paul was an apostle, not a disciple. No offense there. However, I, too, am very thankful he preached to the gentiles, even though I'm a halfer.....a samaritan. Paul was chosen by God to write so much of the New Testament. Paul was a very honorable man, on fire for Jesus, and spoke what he was told by God. How can you not admire him. BUT, as I listed, I identify with Peter. His flesh would ooze out and Jesus told him that 'on this rock I will build my church.' Now Jesus isn't going to build a church on me, trust me, but this lets me know that I can aspire to be so much more than what I am today. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." We're working on it. :)

If we look at it in direct teaching from Jesus to disciple then IMO: we open the door to many people that followed Jesus and were taught by him but if we look at what is being said by others we see only 12 talked about in the Bible and preached by many.

After Jesus death, Jesus appeared to 11 of the 12 disciple and said

    Matthew Chapter 28
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We also know that Jesus appeared to Paul on the road, who's to say he wasn't told to do the same as the 11 disciple were, especially since he did exactly what Jesus told the other disciple to do. I'll also submit to you God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one. Was not Paul taught by God did not Paul do what God said to do. Is it possible Paul was a disciple of Jesus and if were being taught by the Holy Spirit are we also disciple's of Jesus.

    Look at the Scriptures.
What Is A Disciple of Jesus Christ?
Jesus commanded His servants to "make disciples of all the nations". But what is a disciple? Have you ever asked yourself what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ? What exactly would that involve?
What Is A Disciple of Jesus Christ? | United Church of God

Do you think that if Peter did nothing at all, that Jesus Church would not be built. Jesus command us all to make disciples of all the nations. Jesus died once for all man kind and there was no other way then His church to be built.

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

'like a dove' ...... mankind has used the symbol of a dove to mean the Holy Spirit. It appears it wasn't, but maybe He was indescribable. So, apparently, it wasn't a dove. But, this just came to me..... was the Holy Spirit utilized by God to communicate with the people standing there with Jesus? The Holy Spirit communicates from us to God and back again. God doesn't need a Peavey amp with microphone to talk to His children. Just a thought.

'saved by hope'...... this one confused me after I first became a child of God. It's like am I or am I not? The word 'hope' back then was considered a done deal. You could take it to the bank that was covered 100% by God's FDIC. So, there are some explanations to help make sense of what I couldn't as a new child of God. If you have questions, ask.....whether from God the Father or other children of God. Don't walk around with questions  like I did.

    Isaiah 40:28 (KJV)
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

    Matthew 18:3 (KJV)
And said, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

'there is no searching of His understanding.' This set off a light for another Scripture:

    Isaiah 55:8 (KJV)
8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord.

We will never fully understand on this earth. God will reveal much of Himself through the Scriptures, but you have to want to know. We're not going to receive a newspaper from Heaven on our doorstep every morning. We already have one...The Bible. :)

What does it mean to become as little children? 1) Dependent is one way. We know we have nothing and need our Heavenly Father for everything.....even the tiniest part of our lives. As I have stated before, and silly as it sounds, I am unable to walk great distances, so I ask God for a close parking place. I do have a 'handicap' placard, but many times, most of those are full. I thank God for protection, finances, food, clothing, shoes, solutions to impossible situations, LOVE, understanding, people who care about me, great doctors, medicine to help with my disabilities, and the list is neverending.....even down to makeup! When I go to take 'my face off' (wash off makeup), there is a whole different me! 2) Repentent! When we used to get in trouble as children, our parents would scold us or spank us. That doesn't mean they didn't love us. They loved us too much to leave us that way! Same with God. 3) They calmed us when we were frightened. God does the same. 4) They guided us. God does the same. Are we listening? 5) They taught us things. God does the same. 6) They gave us a strong work ethic. God says that if you don't work, you don't eat. 7) They taught confidence and self-esteem.....not ego, but self-esteem.

These are just a few that God showed me. I'm sure you guys could add 100 more. :)
