The customs don´t destroy anything like that. I don´t understand where you get this. What they do is that when they see something over a certain value they ask you to come to a post office to declare it and pay the sales taxes. Some people try to get by without paying taxes so they see this intervention by customs problematic. But if you prefer to do things that way you will run in to problems anyhow and should not cry about it, just pay the taxes.
The sender of goods will never be asked to pay the taxes. If someone from europe is trying to state that the seller has to pay the taxes it´s BS.
We do business everyday to and from U.S, China, etc so I have two decades of experience with customs from and to all around the world. And I can say the statement made above does not apply.
Customs official would be conducting a misconduct of official position if he or she would do something like that. I have had imported items destroyed. How it happens it is like this. You will be summoned to where ever your goods are, depending how large quantities we are talking about and what kind of a goods. Then if your goods are in fact something that would considered somehow hazardous to health or illegal. You would be asked to destroy the goods at your own expense under official supervision. All goods I have had destroyed have been chemicals, foodstuff, cosmetics never ever have I heard even that this has been done to any equipment or machinery. I can´t even think of a reason why that would be the case.
I do not know what Nazi state is described in the statement above but it doesn´t exist here in Scandinavia.
I am sorry that someone would take the time to spend in these scare tactics when one could help us over here to get the best equipment also.
I feel that it would´t be too much to be asked if we could trust each other that much that when asked if it´s legal to send things to us you could take us for our word. And if someone abuses this I can´t se how this would any how come back and bite the seller. Isn´t there the same chance in every transaction that the other one claims the goods to be not arrived?
Anyway I wish when goods in classified comes on sale that I´m interested in. People would give me the benefit of the doubt and believe that I will pay the postage and it would´t even come in to my mind that the seller would pay the taxes. I will gladly pay them because in my world that insures me to be able to buy anything I wan´t from anywhere rather than sticking it to the system, not pay taxes and only to be able to order something less from somewhere inferior.
It´s still illegal to order juices from the states, that we have to do from EEC(EU+few other countries) BUT IT´S LEGAL TO BUY FROM AND SELL TO FINLAND ANY EQUIPMENT FROM US.
Maybe the rules in classifieds should state clearly that after shipment it´s on the European buyer and not on the American seller to make the arrangements for safe reception of goods. I take care of this by paying for adequate shipping method. I have never in over 20 years have had anything to go missing, disappear or be destroyed without my prior knowledge and consent.
I my self am very suspicious of someone claiming something to be lost unless using inferior untracked uninsured method of shipment. And that is just plainly the buyers fault. I do use these methods my self sometimes BUT TO BLAME THE SELLER ON THESE, c´mon.
I´m sorry about the rant but I hope you guys and gals give us the benefit of a doubt and sell us your goods and as I am stalking for a GLV on the classifieds we can also arrange the goods to be send to my brother/sister in law in Vegas or I guess we could send them to Jay for check up and he´ll take it from there. I will call him and get back here about this.
