I always like low, low ohms with my Grand. I use rebuildable attys now, and I wrap a 1.0 ohm - 1.2 ohm coils for my Grand. When I was using HH-357s, I bought 1.5 ohms, and loved them. And...when I used cartos, I usually used 1.5 ohms, too, but I did like the 1.7 shortys okay. Maybe just lower the resistance a little. You are getting anywhere from about 4.1 (fresh battery) to 3.7 or 3.8 volts (end of battery right before charging.) Just my suggestions.

You might be surprised at how LR you can go with these. After I got my REO and various attys from Rob I found the long "smoktek?" 1.5ohm to be my favorite but now that I'm using RBAs I go lower than that. I shoot for 1.0ohms. I have no idea how many watts you were dialing in with your Provari but it may be more than you think and you may be able to go lower in ohms than you think with the REO.

The batteries come off my charger at approx. 4.2v and I'm using a 1.0ohm atty, which seems like it's in the "melting wires/dangerous" zone on the "safe vaping chart", but all sort of other things come into play such as the VG/PG ratio (for me at least VG softens the "throat hit"), the fact that I use cotton as my "wick" in my atty (which absorbs heat), etc.

You'll get there. Perhaps tell us what wattage you are up to with the Provari and what type of wick material you use and PG/VG ratio and we will have more to on and get you to your "aha":toast: moment!

Thanks,

Norman

when I use unregulated mods, especially my reo mini which has such small batteries that have such a fast voltage drain, I add more nicotine to the squeeze bottle than I would vape on regulated/vv mods. That takes care of the throat hit. You can also use a higher VG juice in your reo than you do in your other mods. I make my own juice so having the high nic flavorless juice around is easy. Maybe you could get yourself a bottle and try it? Or just buy higher mg juice for your reo. A lower ohm in your atomizer will allow you to vaporize more juice, thus giving you a more full hit, but it only goes so far for TH. On VV mods you can really crank up the voltage and vaporize more liquid per hit, but when your running off the battery voltage your dependent on low resistance to do this.

1.7/2.0 Ohms? Try a setup like this one

..and with 0.86 you will have your HIT!

Yep. That should do it! I sometimes vape at about that resistance with a cotton wick. I've also misjudged how much the cotton would expand when wet and left too much coil exposed had some hot juice pop up and scorch my tongue. It's a fine art but it's fun and RBAs are a real "game changer." I'm sure the OP will get there. It was easy to "dial in" the wattage on the Provari but once you get the right resistance on your REO the reward will far outweigh the effort. In fact it's become pretty effortless for me to get somewhere around the .90-1.3ohms range and I sometimes use the "hildicat" (and other's) method of leaving my coil on the RBA and just thread in a new cotton wick.
