I watched rip trippers vids on the canamod, read a little about them here and was all excited to get one just like everybody else. I didn't want to do a pre-order and didn't see anybody with them in stock when I had the money to pick one up. Then I happened to find the hcigar version about to arrive at a popular site so the day it went up for sale I jumped on it. I must be one of the first cause I haven't seen any talk about it yet. It just arrived today.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the batt it came with is removable (I heard it wasn't going to be) and it came with a vtc4. The finish is excellent, only available in black as far as I know, and came with a cool little case. I pulled the back off and was a little bummed out it doesn't have the cover piece for the board side.
Now, onto the issue I had which seems to be a really stupid flaw which could potentially fry the thing or really hurt somebody. I fired it before I took the back off and everything seemed fine, took a look under the cover, screwed it back down and tried to fire it again and got check atomizer 2 or 3 times. Took the cover off put it back on and it fired.
I had a trident v2 clone with a 1.2 build on it and it was reading 1.5. OK it's a little off no big deal. Took a couple hits and got the worse burnt hit I ever had!!! So after I finished coughing my head off lol I hit the fire button for a sec and saw it was firing 6.5 volts. According to my Calc that is around 35 watts and I only had it set to 17 or 18!!! I hit the fire button a couple more times very briefly and saw the resistance was all over the place.
So I pulled the cover off and looked around, there is a ground screw that is slightly stripped out and marks where the head hit the case while it was being tightened. I tried to wiggle the wires going to the screw and sure enough they were loose as all H... I pulled the screw out and figured out the problem. They used the same screws for the cover as they did with the ground screw. Anybody who has ever done wiring before would realize this is a big no no(I'm an auto technician). The screw is counter sunk and the connector on the wire has a big hole, no matter how tight the screw is the wires will be loose.
After looking all over the house for a tiny washer, using tin snips to cut a side off for clearance, all is well. It's reading 1.4 rock solid now and hitting like a champ! I contacted the vendor I got it from and told them they might want to check all these units for this problem before sending them out and am waiting for a response. Sorry this is so long guys and girls, I read forums alot but don't post much, hope I didn't bore everybody.
