Imagine that,a newb w/questions. I'm on day 2 & still no analogs, but frustrated with battery life. Of course no one is open that carries this stuff on Sunday.
The unit I got was a Health E Cigarette & it was enough to let me know that this IS the route for me to take. I believe I'll still go outside to vap, because that's what I've done for 25 yrs(1 habit at a time;)) I will be upgrading ASAP after pouring over this site. So far, I'm torn between the 901's, the 401's & a Janty.

Questions:
The batteries that you plug into your USB port,I'm taking for granted that you can use these in your car with an adapter?

Which brands seems to have the best battery life?

I'm sure I'll have more questions & thanks to every one that makes this forum happen.

Cheers

Yes you can get car adapters, they make them in all sorts of models for batteries.

And as for battery life, a good general rule is: The bigger the battery, the longer the life

Not always true, but its generally acceptable.
Also, some e-cigs have a manual button that you push before inhaling, and this will keep the battery from getting triggered at events OTHER than you inhaling, which wastes battery life.
So manual buttons = better life generally as well.

The Janty is one of the best from what I understand, Im also a noob as well so dont quote me on this, but I believe it has pretty damn good battery life.

Im not sure what model your Health is, but if you know what it is then shop around for a USB passthrough.
This is a battery powered (not charged) directly off the usb port, so you plug it in, connect the atty and cartridge, and vape away, all the time connected to your PC.
A lot of computer workers use them because its a ton easier than charging batteries often, and you dont have to worry about the battery dying for no reason.

Congrats on your decision to give vaping a try . . . I suspect that you'll wind up like many of us, very passionate about your new-found love.

Spitefire is right in that the more a device looks like a cigarette (namely, the smaller it is), the shorter the battery life. The devices that look less like cigarettes (for example, the Screwdriver or various other mods) tend to have greater battery life. :)

If you already have a model (even if it ain't great), you have some time to read and explore before picking a second model. You will be simply amazed at the wealth of information on this site.

In terms of the Janty you were talking about, are you talking about the JantyStick? Janty is a company, and they have several popular models, including the Janty Dura-C (a 510) and a Kissbox classic (essentially, a penstyle with a switch).

If you're willing to take a walk on the wild side and don't mind vaping with something that doesn't look like a pen or a cigarette, then you should probably consider a "mod" (which is kind of a generic term for anything that doesn't look like a traditional e-cig, although the origin goes more to people who "modified" to make their own devices). Popular mods include the JantyStick, the Screwdriver, the Prodigy (although it's not out yet and so the feedback is somewhat limited), the GG, and the Zi Moshi. I'm sure there are others out there, but that's what comes to mind immediately. All of these provide superior battery life.

To answer the question about the USB passthrough battery, yes, they do work in cars with the adaptor. Way cool. :thumb:

Very good advice by Julie & Spitfire. If you do buy a second PV, I too would suggest a manual (button) PV. You can heat the atomizer as long as you want (no cut off like with the auto switch PV's), this also tends to give you more consistent throat hit. With the bigger battery PV's (mods), they will last 6-8 hours on one charge and the batteries cost about $2 instead of $20. In the long run you should save money. Here are some links to look at:

Best liked PV poll:

Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For PV's, Parts, & Accessories!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: Janty USA

Good Luck.

I was thinking about the same thing as you, and they had USB charger packs as well. You use AA recharge ables in the USB packs, I see know reason at all, you can not use that to run it away from home as well.

Since the USB is 5 volts and the battery tried to the USB needs that, that should work well I already have a USB charger pack. So I need to get a USB pass for my Janty dura c, then I should have a pack to run it off of using AA's.

You guys are great!
I travel a lot from Texas to Alabama,9 hrs, so the USB really got my attention. The main thing is I want to stop using tobacco products, period. So this is really exciting to me.
The Janty model I'm looking at is the Kissbox. The goal is to quit, not trade crutches, but I can see that's going to be hard. I hate smoking & have for many years, but I really like this vaping thing,so we'll see what happens.

Cheers,

LOL, That had me laughing. I did the same thing ;) and it took a while to get used to not having to go outside all the time.

Welcome to ECF :D

If you travel a lot you'll love a USB passthrough via the car cig lighter or even a battpack. I agree with what others said about using manual batts. I had been vaping on a 901 and 801 for four months and just recently switched over to a 510. So far my 510 is holding up to all the hype that sold me on it. Lots of vapor, manual switch option, etc. I don't have a USB passthrough for the 510 yet and I'm already missing the portability terribly.

Btw, I've noticed you are from Texas and would like to extend an invitation to join Tejas Vapin' our own little group here at ECF. I'll send you an invite. Hope you will consider it as we would love to welcome you to the group.

You also might want to consider a power pack too. You can plug your usb into it and go anywhere with it for added vaping time. They are very small and thin. Here is a source but you can also get another brand too, shop around if you need to. Just make sure to buy one that has the same power output. There are several brands. These (kensington) do go on sale from time to time too, so keep checking.

Whoops forgot the source: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...p=&qp=&list=n&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960

Newbutt, finding the right vaporizer can sometimes be hit or miss. Personal preferences play a large role too. This is a bit similar to cigarettes brand preferences. :D Another forum member, Vee, wrote a really good cheat-sheet listing the factors for consideration to help new vapers.

Here is a link to his post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/19640-need-help.html#post318335

You will probably hear/read most about the current three most popular vaporizer models:
a) DSE 801 (DSE 801 *Penstyle* - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat)
b) DSE 901 (DSE 901/b *Mini* - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat)
c) Joye 510 (Joye 510 - e-cigarette-forum.com • The place for electronic cigarette reviews, news and chat)

Sometimes vendors give them different names and packaging to convince you to pay premium price for their product. But ultimately if you buy, lets say, 801 from one vendor it will be the same as 801 from a different vendor no matter how the vendor labels his product. There are exceptions to this, but the point is to figure out which model works for you.

Another forum member listed replacements/modifications for vaporizers' battery/power/casing component:
The Big Four in Manual Switch PV’s:
Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For PV's, Parts, & Accessories!
GG: THE GG
JantyStick: Janty USA

But the above devices are usually much more expensive than starter kits of the vaporizers. You probably don't want to spend that kind of money before you know which vaporizer model you like the most because those devices use atomizers from those vaporizer I listed earlier. (Of course, there is always chance that even if you don't like for example 801 vaporizer, you will love one of the mods that uses 801 atomizer component.)

Good luck!!

As you are finding out, there is a good reason why the 510 is most preferred device by people on the ECF forum...
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...reviews/13928-primary-device-preferences.html
You need to be careful with these polls. Some of them are only run for a short period of time and give false results. This one is not like that, Anybody can vote in this poll at any time so the results are a pretty accurate indication of how people here are thinking.

I would expect a poll about a week or two after the prodigy gets released so that people can re-vote in something that includes the PRodigy and the Janty Stick. That will likely change the results.
