Well at least the weather will be better next week, looking at a freeze tomorrow morning. Looking to warm up next week (Florida weather changes often). About 150 miles SW of Daytona Beach, but not close enough to meet. Hope you have a good time. :D

Bummer, burnie! If you are up for a road trip next week or change your mind, let me know!

Especially in ATL, and I walk soooo slow I almost need a 2 hour layover just to get to the connection. XOXO

Dude... try an international from Hartsfield-Jackson... That crap was ridiculous! I swear I walked about 6 miles underground to get to the passport control... and another mile to get to the exit!

I take my internationals through ATL and never have a problem, because of Hartsfield-Jackson. Learned my lesson. Same with JFK and Detroit. My gates at DFW always are far apart, but their underground rail makes it a piece of cake compared to most airports.

Gotta agree about Atlanta. Go down the escalator, get on the tram, go up the escalator, there's your gate. Easy peasy. International travel through LAX is a nightmare.

Oh but I live near Atlanta so my flight was coming back not connecting to go somewhere else :p Didn't have a tram just a ton of those moving platforms and stairs and escalators....

I last went through LAX in July 2001 on my way to Japan. When I got off the plane from Denver they told me to just head around the horseshoe outside towards the center where I could get to the International terminal. Except the way was blocked by construction and there were no maps showing how to get around the huge construction zone to get to the terminal.

There were no maps showing how to get to the international terminal anywhere and no one was allowed to give directions except the help people at the help kiosk but that was under construction so no one was there. I asked a cop who was standing there and he wasn't allowed to give me directions either. In frustration I blurted out, "So the help desk is closed, WHO in the HELL can give me directions????" The cop sighed and leaned in close, "Go to your airlines desk, they can help....I didn't just help you..." and he walked off. So I waited in a long line for 30 minutes to make it to the desk and when I got to the person and explained the situation she sighed and said, "This place is insane. Okay this is what you do, go up those stairs two flights, cross into the parking garage, turn left and look for groups of people moving towards the inner part of the horseshoe, cross the bridge, and that is the International terminal."

I call it the psychic airport. No signs directing you and no signs labeling anything and no one can help you because you are just supposed to KNOW

I was supposed to have a 40 minute layover and made the person setting our trip up give me a 2 hour layover. I almost missed my flight!

Oh, yes, international arriving in Atlanta is brutal. It's a looonnng walk and I've waited as long as an hour in the passport control line. But changing planes is a snap.

I always schedule decent layover time. I would rather sit for 2 hours than cut it too close. Especially with International flights. I will sleep through most of it, anyway. Then be awake for 2 straight days when I arrive and have to walk a good 40 miles before I can sleep again :)

I was SO jazzed I spent the whole flight awake. I watched all the movies then started wandering around the plane full of sleeping people. The stewards finally started giving me anything and everything they could think of to keep me in my seat. I had been awake for 26 hours when we landed in Tokyo. I was still buzzing when we got to our ryokan for the night. Got my room, showered, was still buzzing even though it was 10pm so started writing in my journal. That started to relax me and in that entry you can see as I started to fade, so funny!!

Up the next morning at 4am when the subway stop near us did the good morning song and announcement. Everyone else was jet lagged but I had no problem. If it's 4am, it's suddenly 4am. I spent the morning wandering around the streets near where I was staying. Everyone with me finally got moving at 2pm and spent the day looking like this :glare:

Clark should be just about to touch down in Daytona -- Hope the business portion of the trip is very successful and everyone has a great time getting together! If the "family" attorney is needed or a bail bondsman, just let one of us know!

I still LOVE Daytona and hope you all get to see the sights and eat at some of the great restaurants.
The Main Street Pier has been redone and they built a Joe's Crab Shack out over the ocean -- food is the usual, but the view is breathtaking!
Daytona Beach, FL - Official Website - Daytona Beach Pier
If you're looking for a "dive" with the best crab anywhere, hit up Charlie Horse in north Daytona
http://www.charliehorserestaurant.com
If you want Southern "On the River" cooking - hit up Aunt Catfish on the River in South Daytona, just over the Port Orange (Dunlawton) bridge
Port Orange Restaurants on the River for Catfish Seafood Steaks Shrimp Breakfast Lunch and Dinner Aunt Catfish on the River is Down South River Cookin
Another great restaurant with an outdoor bar on the river, where you can vape, listen to live music and hopefully watch the fishing boats come in is called "Down The Hatch" http://www.down-the-hatch-seafood.com/website/

Lots of other good restaurants in Ponce Inlet, just south of Daytona - also home to the Marine Science Center and Lighthouse Point Park where you can watch the surfers and walk out onto the jetty and watch the dolphins most days. My son got married on the beach there 5 years ago, it's a beautiful place. Daytona International Speedway is always fun, too!

Anyway, hope the trip is a hit and the weather is good! Send us pics!

heres an update...hes still in NC...they having plane issues
OH NO!!! What a bummer! I was hopeful they would land at or before sunset -- when you fly into Daytona you go out over the ocean and you can see all the piers and the waves and the sandy beaches for miles and miles. It's so beautiful -- and then the plane turns and heads back to land right behind the Speedway. Hope they don't miss all that in the dark. :(

Who wants to come out and play?

What vape shops should I hit?

What's the good trouble to get into?
