@3.7v I've had some good vapes with 1.7ohm Resurrectors (single coil) from CrystalClearVaepers. I have found that no matter what carto I get for the DCT tank I like 2 good sized holes (punch them with $6.99 1/4 inch saddle valve from the local hardware store) and for really thick juice I punch 3. If you're using pre-punched cartos in the DCT the 1 hole they come with may be choking the amount of juice.

Any 510 should work. I'm using eGo style fatt batts (3.7v), VV Lavatube and VV Provari. Each work well when the combination of resistance and voltage = between 8-10 watts for me. One thing to keep in mind with Dual Coils is that the overall resistance of the carto is 1/2 of each coil (e.g. 1.5ohm DCC has two 3.0ohm coils) so they can be power hogs. Still they give great vape.

Ohm's law: Watts (power) = (Volts * Volts)/ohms (resistance)

Here's some advice someone gave me early on that helped when choosing the right combo:

Just remember this. A 3ohm single coil is the same as a DC 1.5ohm heat wise or watt wise.
For best you need 8 watts. This I have read here.
Single coil of 3ohms to get 8 watts:
3 times 8 = 24
Square root of 24 = 4.9volts
This is the best voltage for that atty.
Dual coils of 2.5 ohms = 5 ohms total. So:
5 times 8 = 40
Square root of 40 = 6.3 volts
This is the best voltage for that atty.

If you want more heat than 8 watts then simply change the 8 to 9 as above then you get 9 watts.

The 1.5 ohm DCC has two 3 ohm coils in it, not two 1.5 ohm coils. So if you power it as if it was a 1.5 ohm, you are running each coil at half throttle.
The 1.5 ohm DCC works best at 4.5-5v. The 2.5 ohm DCC (5 ohm coils) works best at 6-7v.

The problem is the amperage required to do that. Many devices will not allow that much current draw.

5-6V for best performance from the dual coils. I use them at 6V along with Boge 3ohm.

I agree with hairball. DCC's perform best from about 4.7 volts to 6.0 volts. I like them at right about 5.0 volts. They are nothing to write home about at 3.7v or lower, IMO.

Just got a smokteck DCT, didnt want to blow alot on a siam or map until i tried one...
so far been vapn 2-3ohm clearos and wanted to try something different.
at 1.5 ohm on the dct and a 3.7 mod with 18650 hd I'm not really impressed, at 6v its better but is it too hot?
    could go 7.4 :p

Funny you should post this. I'm using that tank right now, and I just had this discussion with a friend of mine. I was powering it with an e-Power 14650 that was putting out 4.1v, and I wasn't too impressed. I tried it on a Joetech eGo battery at 3.41, and the thing rocked.

here are the notes I made about it:

    "Smoktech 3.5ml DCC
    @ 3.41v = 7.75 watts - vapes great
    @ 4.01 v = 10.9 watts - less vapor"

So try going down in volts, not up. You mentioned the higher voltages - do you have a VV you can use on it?

Bear in mind that I slotted my carto one one side, right where the teeny hole was. Thin Dremel cutting wheel (not the fiber-reinforced one), total slot length about 3/16" (18mm) long and 1mm wide.

    ****

    "I'm running a 2.0ohm Dual Coil in my DCT V2 @ 4.5v - and it's right on time

Higher voltage isn't always better for me. Getting the right power for the juice+atty/carto combo is my goal".

Yep, mine too, although I'm just starting out. You're at 10.1 watts at 4.5 volts, but I know for a fact that I'm vaping better at 7.75 watts than at 10.9 watts when at 3.4 volts.

I need to get a handle on this, because I have a feeling there's more to it than just watts, although I could be wrong. I'm on the verge of starting a thread to try to figure out what if anything I'm missing. Is it somehow better to arrive at a certain wattage by using higher volts and higher resistance?

Sorry to all if that's a borderline thread-hijack.

You did just have three people point out that DCC's (mine are 1.5) vape best from 4.5 volts up in their experience. Maybe there is something different about yours. I vape mine at 12.7 watts or 4.5 - 4.7 volts. At 3.7 volts, they are just "blah"...a waste.
