Welcome kane! No need to de-bridge, it's a preference thing. If you do, make sure you clean out the atty well, small pieces of wire mesh and/or ceramic could break off.
I use a bottom feeder so as close to dripping as you can get without dripping and I always dewick because I prefer the easier air flow/draw. I have debridged but found I don't like it as much as it is very easy to get juice in the mouth without the bridge.
I have used them both ways and prefer the wicks and bridge in place. For me the wick holds more juice so I don't need to drip as often as an atty with no wick or bridge. I drip 95% of the time. Once you get the hang of it (takes a little patience) an atty can last you months and the days of burnt-taste-drags are over. Not saying de-bridged are bad. It's more of a preference thing.
I don't suggest de-wicking or de-bridging atomizers. Yes, as others have already said this is a preference thing, but the wick and the bridge serve a purpose and if you can ruin a perfectly good atty by taking them out. Contrary to popular belief, wicks DO NOT burn! They get gummed up with juice, but they're easy enough to clean out. Personally, I think de-wicking and de-bridging just shortens the life of an atomizer.
The only time I found it necessary to dewick, which I never debridge, is if I can't get an atty to feed juice properly to the coil which is not very often.
