 Argh! Please stop it with the big pop-up-image-style age confirmation screens! Just do a normal webpage, please.

I use a netbook and can't be the only one in the world still using one... those pop-up images are bigger than my screen, and I cannot scroll down on them to be able to click to confirm that I am old enough to get into your site. Therefore, I cannot look at your products. There might be some way to get around this, but I have yet to find it, and don't particularly feel like searching anyway. I am not disposed to working harder or spending extra time and effort just to be able to get into your site so that I can browse products. I just close the page and look elsewhere.

You are losing sales, by the way. And making me angry. Quit it.

Sincerely,

A frustrated, way-over-18 vaper

How else would you like them to confirm your above the legal age in your locale? You do realize this is for legal reasons?

Personally I would like to see the same methods applied in the adult film industry. Requiring credit card and/or driver license to verify age. ;)

I use a 4.7" mobile device to view a number of sites and have yet to experience any issues. Who knows maybe I'm just lucky...

I am not objecting to having to confirm my age. I am fine with that. As I said, I would like them to make the age-confirmation a REGULAR webpage that I can scroll down on.

The reason you don't have issues on your phone is because it uses the mobile version of sites, which doesn't work well on a computer IME.

On my mobile browser I always have checked "Request Desktop Site" as I can't stand the mobile versions.

How many sites are you having issues with?

I'm honestly just curious as I've never had any issues at all. I also have a MAC Air 11" and a Asus Eee PC that is also an 11" that I've never experienced the issues you have brought up.

Hmmm... mine's an Eee pc as well, 9" screen though. (just measured) I'd say it's about 1 in every 4 vendor sites I try to go to. It happens to me with other kinds of sites with that kind of pop-up too.

Do you view sites on your phone horizontally (with the screen rotated)? Also just curious, because the problem for me is lack of vertical space on my screen, and if you're looking at the desktop version on your phone with it rotated normally, you'd have plenty of vertical space compared to my netbook.

I just don't understand why they use the pop-up at all... it's simpler to code a plain webpage with text and two links than a fancy pop-up image, isn't it? (I assume so, but don't know for sure.) Why go through the extra bother AND keep people who might otherwise be legal customers out of your site? I can't even get their contact info (since I can't get past the age confirmation) to tell them about it. Hence this thread. Meh, just very frustrated.

Below are two screenshots from my mobile, vertical and horizontal. I tried nine different vendors who have the pop-up and they all display with out any issues.

It may just be the way the particular sites your having troubles with are coded. If you PM me a few I'll be glad to give them a go and see if I have similar issues.

Hang in there we'll figure it out! :)

Yeah, just tried that one. I think they've got theirs coded so it scales with your screen, because I can get into their site. I wish all vendors would do that, or do the regular webpage. I'm gonna have to think to remember some of the other ones I've had trouble with and take you up on your offer-- generally I get mad at them, close the page, and don't think about them again. PMing you the one that inspired this post.

I've used an Eee PC myself and understand the frustration. I even just reformatted and installed Windows Starter on one this past week. Netbooks just don't open up the web browsers the way normal computers and mobile systems do. You're always missing half the page it seems.

I have this problem with my phone on many sites. My phone is my only internet too so I don't have the option to jump in a laptop/desktop... If I zoom in it moves when I try to get to where I enter my age. Horizontal unfortunately makes it even worse. This is on multiple browsers and im pretty tech savvy from being an I.T. guy for a couple years. Pretty sure its not pebkec or.an id-10t error.

Via a possessed phone thats autocorrect is just silly
