Other than using a vaping device what else did you guys who have managed to kick the nastys do to help yourself quit? I have been smoking for 12 years(started young at 9) 10 at a pack or more a day with an 18month break when I quit. I live in a house full of analog smokers who have no ambition to quit. I'm just curios if anyone has any tips outside of vaping to help me on my journey.

Hi, when I first quit my hubby was still smoking around me, what really really helped me was to vape the correct amount of nicotine. I was a 2 pack a day smoker so vaping 24 mg. Nicotine kept me completely comfortable and kept the cravings away. My second tip is vape where ever you smoked. If you smoked while driving, vape while driving, bring your vape with you just as you did cigarettes. And lastly at first you might find yourself vaping constantly, that's alright. When you get that smoking urge, vape instead. Funny thing is about three weeks into vaping my husband decided he was going to quit smoking too and he started vaping. You will start to really dislike the smell of cigarettes after about two weeks. If you give yourself enough nicotine, you will find with vaping, you will be able to painlessly and comfortably be able to quit with very few cravings. Hope this helps and you can do it!! We are here for you!! Best wishes.

I use Stonewall dissolvables and Swedish snus along with vaping. All serve to keep the itch away, even around several smokers. If you are interested in learning more, visit Smokeless tobacco :vapor: :)

First, welcome! Lots of great people and information available here!

As others said, I replaced smoking with vaping. Anything I would have normally had a smoke, I vaped. And, to keep my mind off of it, I vaped a lot more than I smoked! I did not smoke in the house, always went to the back porch. Now I can vape in the house so I vape more often. Make sure you always have your vape available and don't run off of juice!! Initially, you will look for an excuse to go back to cigs!

Good luck and hang in there. There are tons of people who are proof that it is doable!

Vaping alone did it, but I quit smoking completely in 10 days with some willpower because I liked breathing better so much. Also helping was finding the right nicotine concentration, at least 2 good juices and the right device since I knew from the start the eGo would only be there as a backup in the long run. Always having my e-cig on me and extra juice/battery was a must at first, but now I firmly believe I could make it through the day if I forgot my PV at home.

I quit using horrible convenience store brand ecigs. It came with the help of a complete stranger.

I woke one morning roughly a week after starting to use ecigs, was still using analogs, but I got in the shower as usual, got dressed, and started to prepare to run some errands.

For whatever reason, I reached for my cigs, and my freshly charged ecig was right next to them with a fresh carto on it, so I said, "*** it.. I'm just going to take the ecig, I won't be gone long anyway.

While at my bank, one of the tellers, who I did NOT know, literally leaned over the counter to sniff me. A cute girl about my age, and then she says "wow you smell fantastic... What is that?" To which I could only honestly reply "soap" LOL

It puzzled me for about 5 minutes until I got back to my truck and puffed on the ecig, realizing I hadn't smoked a cigarette yet.

It was then that I asked myself if cigarettes had really made a difference of that magnitude, which I had to conclude YES, then it occurred to me I'd been walking around smelling like an ashtray for 10 years... I haven't had a cigarette since.

Like mentioned before, you will begin to notice just how wretched the things actually smell.

People please! Enough about the girl! lol jk. But nah in reality it was a bad time in my life, had a lot going on, etc.. I couldn't have cared less about meeting up with the girl at the time, but it WAS enough to open my eyes to the truth... Which was I'd walked around for over 10 years smelling like complete **** and had NO idea lol.

It actually helped that about two weeks after my last cig (enough time to have gotten the smell off my clothes and whatnot) I got a dead end job at a rathole that allowed customers to smoke.

I'd walk in every day wanting to choke from the haze. Then customers would come up to me with lit cigarettes in the hands or mouths... The actual smoke coming off of them would go right into my nose and I'd almost throw up.

Considering it seems like you're around pretty heavy smokers most of the time, you might not really notice the change in smell much, but like you already said yourself, you're already starting to taste the ashtray in your mouth when you light one up.

My advice is basically what the others have said (unless you can run into a cute bank teller lol).... Vape and vape and vape some more. Vape your heart out. Get plenty of strong flavored liquids, a variety so you don't get tired of one (I STILL only vape tobacco flavor liquids. I use Legend and Sludge from Heathers Heavenly Vapes, and if I want something a tad sweeter I occasionally vape a liquid you can buy from V2 cigs called Sahara).

Eventually you'll find a liquid that really hits the spot for you, and the more you use it, the more analogs will make you want to gag. The less you revert to analogs, the quicker you'll notice you can breathe better, you'll stop coughing and/or wheezing if that's an issue. I have asthma and with the abrupt stop I made I noticed all of this very quickly. Then the best part, you'll start coughing less and less phlegm up in the mornings when you get up or take a shower.

Keep a few flavors around so when one gets old you can switch to another.

This works well. I have like 15 flavors around because of this. IMHO the best juice that you can get to help is caRnY4 or Boba's Bounty to help. They both have that "Thing" about smoking analoges that I personally miss sometimes.

This is all great advice ^^^^^ ... and exactly what I did. I haven't touched a cigarette in 275 days... the very day I started vaping.

Isn't it odd... some of you say having others smoke around you actually helped. Same with me. Every other time I tried to quit - and I've tried everything - it was the exact opposite. I'd smell it, see the smoke, see that open pack laying there. It was TOO much. I couldn't resist.

But as soon as I started vaping, smoking seemed so much less desirable.

So the stink helped. The sweet banana nut bread and Belgian Waffle juices helped. The good advice to start with a higher nic ("You can always go lower!") and to vape as soon as I had a craving helped.

And the few times when I really really jonesed, I had cigarettes laying around (my hubby's) and I would go right ahead and light one. A puff or two, and it tasted so gross I'd snub it out and pull out my little Ego.

I"ve heard others advise to not keep cigs around, or to have only some horrible cheap brand, stale, damp, and nasty. But I would say to have your favorite handy. Because a stale Doral is going to be nasty, but you will be convinced you're done smoking when your fave, which used to be soooo good, starts tasting like roadkill.
