WElcome to ecf. Glad you found us. Yes the model 510 is a good choice. Depends on how much you smoke and your preferences. They are very dependable and last a while, in fact, I still have a couple of mine, but there are now gathering dust as I have moved on to bigger batteries. So, tell us what you expect out of the ecig. What I mean is, does time between charges on that battery make a diff to you. Th or vapor a must?

Let us know.

My wife and I both bought starter kits the same day. She bought a 510 kit because she wanted something small and like a real cig. I read a lot on forums, and decided the eGo was probably a better bet for me. Within the first week, my wife was ordering an eGo. The difference was that the eGo not only provided a better vape, but the battery lasted much longer. 2 fully charged eGo batteries would last me from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed. Meanwhile my wife had to recharge her 510's (both batteries) three times per day! And if she forgot to put one on the charger, she would find herself without a vape for a couple hours while one charged.

Just buy the eGo from Libertyflights.com. It has a battery that won't die and uses 510 threads. Liberty Flights has a low price for members of this forum. But if you think picking out a PV is hard what till you start getting juice. If you want to the the two side by side and the pros and cons gone over a member here has adone some fantasic vids for us new guys/gals.

I suppose all three things you mentioned would be important. I have no idea how long the batteries last on these. I would be getting the manual model. I was thinking with going with the disposable cartridges to begin with, then as I got more into it, getting the refillable.

You get whatever fits your needs. Be informed is the key. We all wanted our ecigs to look like analogs(cigarettes) in the beginning, but for some of us hard-core die-hard smokers, the hit and vapor and lenght of time between battery charges is really the important thing. Liberty-flights has a riva 510 kit for $30.00 Here is a link that provides a 20% discount. Have a look around and read descriptions to see what suits you.
good luck:)

Just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. You will grow tired of the short run time of the smaller batteries, you will grow tired of carrying around extra stuff just to get through the day, and you will grow tired of filling cartridges every ten minutes. But the 510 or kr808d-1 is a great starting point for someone who's interested in trying vaping. The most important part is to get started, and quit analogs. After you make that first step, then you can decide if moving on to bigger and better is for you. Good luck!

Sugar and spice is right. I love my mods. But after a year plus of fiddling around with them, Ive come back to the 808's. They hit great(if you do your homework, and get the right setup), and are fairly hassle free. Carto's have come a long way since 09 imo. Whatever you end up getting, come back and let us know how it working out for you. Once again, good luck, and I hope it works out for you!

I love my 510 - I use it with cartomizers most of the time (instead of the atty+cart). The standard 510 gets really 1cm shorter with a standard Boge soft-cap carto. I also use the 510 mega xl batteries - those would make it 138mm long w/ atty+cart but 128mm long with a Boge carto and give 60% more battery life.

Buy manual batteries. Joye 510 manual batteries are totally sealed on the threaded end so you can drip with a drip tip, you can refill cartomizers and not worry about killing or disabling a battery if it drips, and I think manuals are actually less work and give a more consistent hit. If you get autos -as with all auto batteries, you could gunk up or kill the drag sensor if juice drips, and autos can also turn on by accident from wind or vibration.

Before buying I recommend you check Cignot.com and LiteCigUSA.net - both very popular suppliers with good prices and real Joye 510's. And for standard length 510 - take a look at the VaporMaxx PCC at NoSMokeVA.com - they also sell 510 kits that include the PCC but I do not know if their 510s are Joye or clones. They sell teh PCC separately also and I go it because it's so roomy compared to the Joye PCC.

BTW - re cartomizers - the Joyetech cartomizers I have seen are reservoir ones that need a syringe - they are fairly new and have some issues so if you decide to get some cartomizers, consider the standard resistance Boge soft-cap cartomziers for 510 (not LR since slim ecig batteries cannot use LR low resistance stuff).

I'd opt for an Ego, as it uses the same cartos & such, as the 510. You may find yourself comfortable with the extra size. With the 650mah batt and a carto, it's just a bit larger than the lighter you carried around anyhow. And you can sometimes find screaming deals on 510 batteries/chargers, thus giving you the flexibility of having a 510 setup too. Heck, I just bought 3 510 setups for ~8 each ($5 black manual battery/$3 USB charger). I look at it as a 510 platform, and I interchange stuff back & forth. Just be careful to not use the Ego battery charger for that 510...

My hang-up here seems to be looks. I would like an e-cig that looks like a cigarette, not a cigarette holder. Apparently these have a smaller battery and don't last as long. I wouldn't have a problem with having extra batteries to do the job all day.

Get the eGo or Riva 510 or VGO 801. You will be happier in the long run. Good idea of yours getting manual batteries.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.
