The stainless can be used in the tank mods. I'm not sure about the clear ones. I could pull off putting the holes in them, but they're not connected at the bottom. When you overfill they leak. A tank is just one big overfill, and that's a 5ml leak waiting to happen.
Oh, I shan't be discontinuing the clears! Don't worry!
Some folk have stated a preference for the stainless ones, though.

I don't think the clears will work... seems to me the tanks use a cut-off carto, and it relies on a band of carto-shell to seal...
