If you have tried a JITB taco, you fall into one of two camps. You either love them or hate them. For me, its a double dose of heaven for just 99 cents. :)

The taco consists of a pre-assembled corn tortilla with about a tablespoon of very finely ground, seasoned mystery meat, folded and frozen. These are dunked in the deep-fat fryer for about 45 seconds. Then raised, drained, and stuffed with half a slice of american cheese, a tablespoon of shredded head lettuce, and a squirt of hot sauce.

So, what makes them so special?
1. Its fried. The shells are grunchy (a combination of greasy and crunchy)
2. Well seasoned, tasty meat pate is easy to inhale as virtually no chewing is required!
3. American cheese food product on a taco... Lets face it, that's freakin' brilliant!

And at 386 calories for $.99 cents, an incredible, heart stopping bargain.

If there is no JITB in your town, you might find these at Burger King or Sonic, (however, they wont be called Jack in the Box tacos).

I'll bet they're great for breakfast, too!!!

hmmm... y'know, they'd be even better with a slice of bacon to compliment that 1/2 slice of cheese...

 .... too much chewing!

Morning bro! :)
But don't you have to chew the grunchy shell?

I don't think Manhattan has any JITB or Sonics. (We got the first IHOP I've ever seen here recently.) We do have Burger King and Taco Bell. But, of all the destructive food issues I have, dining in fast food restaurants is not one of them. I'd rather buy a good burger for a couple of dollars more. (And wash it down with some brownies and ice cream.)

ETA: I just checked. There are no JITBs in New York State and, when I give Sonic my zip code, they suggest a drive to NJ.

But I live in Manhattan. That means I don't have a car. And I'm NOT hitchhiking for a grunchy taco.
If you seriously want something tasty,
Fed Ex some ribs from Flannagan's Big Daddy in Miami!

WORTH IT!
I HAVE done this!

Best ribs EVER!

:D

Hmmm!
It's been a while.

I may have to do it again!
