Deej already has a 6-pack which is 15% cheaper than buying 6 bottles separately.

I'd think one of the key goals would be to save Deej some time and effort by allowing him to make big batches of some flavors. The more options and combinations available, the more time and effort Deej has to spend keeping it organized.

15 flavors x 1 size x 1 PG/VG ratio x 1 flavor strength x 2 nicotine strengths = 30 pre-mixed, pre-steeped flavors on hand at all times
or
15 flavors x 1 size x 1 PG/VG ratio x 2 flavor strengths x 2 nicotine strengths = 60 pre-mixed, pre-steeped flavors on hand at all times
or
230 flavors x 9 sizes/bottle types x 10 PG/VG ratios x 5 flavor strengths x 10 nicotine strengths = 1,035,000 possible combinations. (More if you add child-proof vs non-child-proof bottles.)

It grows exponentially. No wonder the poor kitty is so tired.

I like CheekyMonkey's sampler pack idea. Even in 10ml. Say a 5 pack from the 4 or 5 different categories (tobacco, fruit, taffy you know similar flavors, even a 2 fruit and few taffy flavors). Pick your top sellers.

If I read you right, that would be 15 sampler packs. I have 15 categories now, and am looking at the possibility of adding another category or three in the near future. I'm not really sure sampler packs are doable.

On the other hand, I could probably do up a top-sellers pack.

Looking at non-six-pack purchases, the top 10 are:

1) Oba Oba
2) Tiramisu
3) New York Cheesecake
4 )Hypnotic Myst
5) Strawberry Cheesecake
6) Apocalyptic Lemonade
7) Apple Champagne
8) Sweet Gingerbread
9) Bittersweet Tears of the Apocalypse
10) RY4

I am pleased to inform you it was bad cartos, not your awesome juice :) they were the Boge 510 LRs that came with my Kgo. :)
And yeah, I'm a little more than half thru my banana cheesecake lol I'm definitely going to have to order more when I get paid, its going quicker now I'm using a bottom feed clearomizer. (which I love BTW)

Anyways, I think if 5ml's are a pain, don't offer them on your presteeps, if you decide to go that route :) I also suggest adding a waffle flavor to the line up, seems like it would round out the list. I should try a waffle flavor with my next order. And a capaccino (sp?)

Whew! I'm sorry it was bad cartos, but I'm glad it wasn't the juice!!!

Poor Deej. :( Let me give you a hug.:p

heh... yeah... storage space could rapidly become an issue! :)

===============

In order to do bulk-mixing with the equipment I've got, I'm looking at a minimum of 200mL per flavor-strength combination. That translates to 20 10mL bottles. Assume I'll do the 3 nic levels (8, 16 & 24). 60 bottles that have to be stored while they steep. However, taking into account the non-juice aspect, I need to do 30 bottles of each flavor-strength combination so as to avoid a hassle with label-printing. Now I've got 90 bottles. Good thing I can bulk-mix up to 500mL at a shot! :)

For the pre-steep idea to work at all for me at my current staffing level, the flavor-load must be fixed at some percentage. I chose 125% as it seems to be most common. I also don't see offering a cap-choice at this time... the bottles have to be capped once they're filled, and changing the cap on a bottle kills 2 caps... the one I take off would have to be discarded, since it will have absorbed the odor of the juice.

If I go with child-proof caps, then I'm more or less aligned with ECF recommendations as well as being able to get them from my bottle supplier. If I go with standard caps, I've just INCREASED the per-bottle cost by 21 cents... standard caps are not offered by my bottle supplier, so I'd have to get those "after-market".

So... yeah... the pre-steep line (however that turns out) is going to be locked down in terms of options to only which of the 3 nic strengths you want. If something in the pre-steep line doesn't work for you, then there's still the custom-mixed line.

If you can bulk mix up to 500ml, is there a reason you couldn't store them in a bulk container & bottle them when ordered (after shaking, of course!)? If my math is right, 500ml is only a little over 16oz (or the size of an average water bottle), so it wouldn't take up nearly the amount of space that a bunch of little bottles would.

You could make the labels ahead of time so all you have to do is slap the appropriate label on the appropriate bottle, fill & ship.

That really is a good point, and one I've considered. The drawback (to me) is breaking the "assembly-line" aspect of it. I have to consider the time-factors involved, and filling/labeling bottles as they're ordered simply takes more time than filling/labeling 30 bottles at a time.

I actually have real-world data on this... Jackass69 orders a LOT of bottles of the same mix at a time. I can prep/ship his orders faster than I can prep/ship multiple orders totaling the same number of bottles.

Another factor to consider is this: If I do it all at once, space does become a concern. Is that enough of a concern to outweigh having fewer things to keep track of?

Still, your point of 500mL jugs being easier to store is a valid one, so I promise to give it more thought.

The thought occurs that I can go both ways in the beginning, and then my experience of the process guide me further. Surely, one way will become more exasperating to me than the other after a time... :p

Save a bottle for me! That sounds yummy!

You got it!

Re child proof caps.

When Deej first said he was out of un-child-proof caps I said CP was fine (even though I don't have children.) On the little bottles they turned out to be the "break the seal once" type and I was totally fine with them.

Then I got 14 large bottles with CP caps and those are the "push down, twist, pull up and repeat until it works" type. Grrr but I was coping until pulling the cap off knocked the drip tip off and it rolled… somewhere. So I put on a drip tip from a bottle that was empty and attacked the cap with a clipper. I just had to cut a little off the rim of the turquoise outer cap and the inner cap fell into my hand.

It's very cute (and different) even though you can't see the _∏_∏_ flourish all around the middle level.

Soon I'll have a collection of 14 of them and will put them on new bottles the first time I open them (because it behooves me to keep my suppliers' costs down.) ;-D

ETA: I'll have fewer than 14. I just did a second one and the inner cap separated at the middle level. But even if I only end up with 7 from this order, I'll have plenty.

Poeia: The "twist until it breaks off the band" type are anti-tamper or anti-theft caps. Those are a standard cap-type from my supplier, but for some reason they make the bottle shorter and fatter... and I hate trying to label those suckers. I prefer the taller, thinner bottle as it's much easier to label.

The physical act of mixing is pretty fast. It's all the pre- and post-processing that eats the time. :)

weighing in late here.... no need to make it more difficult than it has to be

Six pre-steeped 125% flavors, in 10 ml size at 70/30% and 3 nic options with child-proof caps sounds pretty reasonable. And storage is still likely an issue. If people take the 6 pack option it's essentially a sampler pack (and the pre-steeped 6 pack could be added as a drop down on the 6 pack menu).

(oh, and good morning)

Top ten ..3 nic levels.. all 70/30 (or what ever you think is best for them to be)... = ??? the number of bottles you feel like putting them in for storage. Not really sure how the mixing process goes or the space you have or bottling process, its just an idea.

And the labels are harder to read so I'm only buying the bigger bottles now.

And I'm having fun turning all my turquoise caps into very cute white hats. Only the one has been defective so far.

Labels are a pain in general...

I'd love to get away with just the Flavor, Strength, Ratio and Mix Date... I could make the print size larger.

But... "We need to see the ingredients list!" and "It has to say 'Keep out of reach of children'" and California's lovely Proposition 65 demand otherwise.

Eventually I'll be able to afford to order custom-cut labels... :)

I used to have 20/20 vision when I was younger. Now that I am old I have to use a magnifying glass to see which flavor of Deej Juice I am grabbing. I can't read small print like I used to. I vote for the flavor name larger on the label if possible.

I would love to make the name larger. I just don't see how I can do that right now.

I've looked at getting custom-cut labels... I've looked at getting a dedicated bottle-printer... neither option is feasible at this time.

I can't eliminate anything currently on the label for either legal or market reasons and I'm limited to standard size labels for the time being. I've reduced the point-size on everything except the Flavor Name as far as I reasonably can. I've adjusted the margins on the label to the barest minimum that will give me a print-success rate of about 80% (yes... I lose 20% of my labels to misprint). If there's something I'm missing that will give me more room on the label, please tell me!

I assume that you have already played around with fonts to see which ones are the most legible and easiest to read. Other than that your labels are by far the best I have seen from any juice vendor (and pretty too!).
