defender battery issue?

I have a new defender battery and it won't charge. I know it's not the charger because my other battery will charge no problem. It seems like it's not making a connection and the inner post seems like it moves if I press on it with a paper clip. It's a new battery I ordered a few weeks ago - any ideas? I can't log into the v9 site because I forgot my password, i requested a new one, but the e-mail isn't coming through.
