I had never even heard of e-cigs, then about 4 years ago or so, I was walking through our large, local mall one day right before Christmas, and the owner of that mall had apparently decided he doesnt make enough money just leasing out mall space to all the stores there, so he decided to start leasing out space in the hallways as well. So all these vendors are filling up the center of the main hallway especially around Christmas, and they have their kiosks set up.

So we are walking amidst all these kiosks, with most of the sales people at these kiosks minding their own business and not bothering anyone, until we walked near this one kiosk, and this guy is literally walking right in front of people and blocking them as they try to walk by, and he sees us coming and walks up to us and asks "Do either of you smoke"? I usually quickly think of an answer to stop pushy salesmen cold, but this time I answered honestly and said "yes".

So he asks us to walk over to his kiosk, and he asks me which brand of cigs I smoke, and I answer "Newports, L&M menthol". So he starts fiddling with something at this desk, then he hands me what looks just like a cigarette, and says "try that". I looked at him and reminded him we werent allowed to smoke in the mall, and he assured me I wasnt smoking, so I took a drag, and blew out vapor, which I thought was smoke! It tasted a bit like a menthol cigarette, and I got a little throat hit too. I was impressed.

So I ask how much it costs, and he tells me that for a kit with approx 2 weeks supply of cartridges, it would be like $175. Once I heard that I walked away. I'm glad I did, because I wouldve gotten tired of that tiny kit with its tiny batteries in 2-3 days! But it was impressive especially since I had never seen any such thing.

After that, I didnt see or hear anything else about it for a few years, til I was looking at links to Li Ion batteries, and was linked to an e-cig store about 2 months ago, then I finally ordered my 1st Ego kit 1 month ago.

What was your first experience with e-cigs?

First time that I saw one was walking through a retail establishment and saw someone smoking. I was like "what the heck!!!" Then upon looking closer, I realized it was an e-cig.

A more interesting one was my second interaction. A good friend of mine started smoking them and showed me. I remember thinking he was an idiot. I mean really, that's not smoke, it's just steam I thought to myself as I walked off..... Now I'm a vaper LOL

I saw an ad for blu on some site or another, 3 or 4ish years ago. My future husband bought me a kit from E Cigarettes By Choice 7's (was different at the time, same company though) and i toyed around with it for a while. It wasn't as expensive as some of the kits, but it wasn't terribly impressive either. the fact that HIGH means a mere 18mg didn't help, either.

Once i moved in with him a few years later, we tried another kit, njoy crap from a gas station, which while MUCH more moderately priced didn't perform any better.

So I started a thread on 4chan and got some interesting information, but was still hesitant to leap into it because of my lack of success with the previous models. But then a B&M opened here in jax, and I walked in with a better idea of what I needed thanks to /b/.

my kgo starter kit cost about as much as the first crappy starter kit, and I haven't looked back since.

I was introduced to them through a guest at work a couple of years ago. The lady saw me smoking and pulled out her cig-a-like. She let me take a hit off of it and was intrigued. I bought a Smoke51 kit at a smoke shop for $100, and then researched them ay home+-. Luckily they took back the purchase (no return policy). Picked up a Tornado system online and found ECF. Wasn't exactly impressed, but then again everyone was modding their cartridges back then. I went back to analogs pretty quick, but always kept a tornado in my bag for emergencies sake. Then a few weeks ago I decided it was time to quit smoking and picked up a Tornado-t kit, then a Vivi Nova and a 1000mah Twist and I'm smoke free 6 days now.

My first experience was a little over a year ago... with my dad's m401 e-cig... my first impression? "Why the hell did he buy this piece of metal cig that doesnt even have a decent hit and how the hell can a guy who have smoked for more than 30 years can quit just relying on this?" and my premonition was right, he chugged that thing the next day and started on analogs again... untill today! Then a few weeks back, i started reading bout the new technologies and the awesomeness of vaping... got myself a cheap m401 knockoff and dripped.... the vapor was good, and a nice throat hit... so i said what the hell, im gonna get those egos and puff away.... from my first ego hit, i knew that vaping will stay with me... today i have been analog free for about 5 days... and loving it! I tried picking up an analog on the second day, it tastes like crap! :) The sweet spot hit me when i found a very good all day juice... now im happy and it is safe to say that aalogs can kiss my ... forever! But then, as a guy, everything will become a hobby! just ordered a sampler pack, one apollo tank, one vivi-nova and still looking for a drip tip that will suit me... ha ha ha... But thank GOD in Malaysia we have very limited options and the stuffs are expensive... that will keep me away from ordering more stuff, at least till its pay day...

I dont recall how i heard about them the first time - but I bought an NJOY which was the most highly recommended device then. It was so so. The carts were expensive and the juice was only available from china. there were a few diy guys just starting up and selling to others in the us but no one line shopping for that stuff.
I stuck with it for 6 months but I never could order enough supplies (due to budget) to make ordering from china worth while and I just could not afford the pre-filled carts from njoy.

Its a shame too - i could be off cigs totally by now if I had just stuck it out a while longer. the market was changing fast :)
Still im glad to be back and glad its so much better now!

I've been thinking about ecigs for awhile but had no clue what to look for / at untill one of my cube-mates picked one up and did all the research.

My first exp: I worked a a mall Kiosk around xmas a year or 2 ago.. and this girl I worked with spent her last dime (yes.. she needed to use her bro's gas card for gas) on a crap kit that someone was selling @ the mall. He fingers were trembling she was so ready to start using it.

Second exp: A different co-worker tried an njoy and was very dissapointed with it, sick, didn't last etc.. went back on smokes...
Third exp: cube mate picked up an ego kit and really liked it.. I tried it.. thought it wasn't bad so gave it a shot.. and so far I'm smoke free with very little cravings for traditional smokes. (Sometimes i crave the resistance for some reason)

About three years ago I saw advertisements for some variant of Blu. About two years ago my city enacted a no-smoking law, and the newspapers were describing e-cigs as "a way to circumvent the law". I found ECF, researched heavily, and a 510 T-Rex I ordered was the first c-cig I saw. I recall my first hit of primer (gag, cough, "maybe I"ll get used to it").

I haven't had a cigarette for 1 year, 3 months, and 25 days, and I know I will never smoke again.

In late August 2010 I read an article in the WSJ about electronic cigarettes that got my attention. That kicked off an internet search frenzy for a few days to get educated on the topic enough to buy one. About a week later my eGo kit came in the mail and that was my first contact with actual vaping stuff.

I remember it coming in the mail on a Saturday just as I was leaving to meet up with some folks. I actually opened it up in the car right in the driveway and put it together to try it out. At first I got a little head rush from a "high" nic preloaded cart that came with it. After a few minutes that went away. All that day I marveled at being able to "smoke" while being close to other people and not smelling like I was smoking.

I think it was that Christmas shopping season that the first kiosk appeared at the local mall. Having had my eGo kit for a while, I was able to be smug passing them by and noticing how over-priced their products were. About six months later I got my new habit dialed in well enough to stop smoking completely.

My first exposure was when we were eating dinner at a restaurant, and a guy walked by our table as he was leaving.
I saw him holding something to his mouth and I saw a little blue light and as he walked by I asked him what it was, and it turned out to be a Blu.

I thought it was just about the stupidest thing I'd ever heard of.

A year later my sister came in from out of town for Father's Day and we all had dinner.
As we left the restaurant she pulled out an NJoy and she let me try it.

I drove 100 miles the next day to buy one at the nearest Pilot truck stop.

You mentioned "cube mates". Are you on a competitive Rubiks cube team?

Your avatar has a San Diego Chargers PV. Were you just unable to find a Philadelphia Eagles one? LOL

A year ago my wife bought a SmokeTip kit from our local tobacco shop; well, I had to try it-I was intrigued, although I didn't care for the flavor and the kit seemed way overpriced to me ($60) I went looking online, rolled the dice on a $10 starter kit from VaporNine-ding ding ding! we have a winner! about 2 days later I couln't stand the taste of cigarettes.

Back in late October of 2009, we were on vacation with some friends. My buddy happened to have an electronic cigar - I'd never heard of such a thing. I tried it and was intrigued, so when we got home I did some research and stumbled onto the ECF. After doing a lot of reading, I ordered a kit from Vapor4Life. As soon as it arrived and I tried it, I knew it could work. A few days later the analogs were history.

Well I started with a unit I have not seen anywhere else. I was using an Echo which is an 808 variation of the ego style system. I used the system for about 2 weeks. Since after that my cat made off with the charger adapter and I could not find another one. With it being an auto draw battery and I was using a cartomizer I thought I was happy. But now I know that I was just satisfied. Now I am happy since I have moved to an ego style system with a Smok titan tank from got vapes. I have also gotten a couple of Stardust clearomizers with long wicks. The only issue with these clearomizers is that I have to use low resistance heads for the tanks.
