Desktop Mod?

Hey guys I've been kicking around an idea to build a desktop mod by ripping apart a fender mini 57 twin amp and using the 1/4" connector to connect to a 'wand' like a hookah with the atty on it. I have very little real knowledge in electronics but I'm just curious what is possible. In my dream world I'd like to have one of the knobs that would flip between some regulated chip and unregulated mode, Pass through capable, i.e. plug into the wall, Control the wattage with a knob on top, Ohm meter and voltmeter.

Believe me, I realize this is complicated, but a man can dream. ...so basically I'm asking if anyone has tackled anything like this or is willing to do take it on and share your process/results.

Hi--somebody on the internet---youtube---took a varable power supply and used a one quarter inch guitar plug and made a mod---I think he was a tattoo artist.

You could configure the power supply inside of your fender amp cabinet and bring meters close to front of cabinet --take the power supply out of its original cabinet/inclosure--and

build it into your fender amp cabinet and then as you figured out more improvments to the project you could slowly add things like varable wattage and led lites.

Sounds like an interesting/fun project to pursue would you please post pics of your project as you go along so the rest of us could learn some of your ideas.

You could take an old cheap microphone and epoxy a 510 fat daddy connector into the screen end of the mic and run your wires down thru the mic and

out the bottom and put a guitar plug on the end about 2 feet from the mic. Then get a 6 inch tall microphone stand to hold it when not vaping.

You could then go inside of the Fender Amp and unsolder the wire connected to one of the inputs and connect/solder- 2 wires leading to the power supply's out put.

Take acheap voltmeter and glue the cabinet into your guitar cabinet and wire into the circuit with a switch---when you want to check ohms--

just flick the switch and ohms will show on the voltmeter and then flick the switch back .

These are just some ideas that could be used in this project and probably there are a lot of others exsisting too after some thoughts.

I have to agree with Thetrucker. This sounds like a cool project, but a step by step one. First step would be maybe finding a decent power supply. Preferably 5v so you could use it unregulated at first. I would look into modding an ATX power supply to keep costs down. If you have any questions on how to do that, there are a ton of tutorials/videos online, or I could help out if you don't find what you need.

You could connect the 5v output to the guitar plug jack, and a 510 connection to a guitar cord and vape at 5v until you were ready to go regulated. Then you could get a buck/boost converter. There is a lot of information about using chips such as Naos Raptor. You could use the same nobs that are on the amp for the potentiometer that controls the output voltage, so the amp would still look stock.

Just take it 1 step at a time. Ask all the questions you need to. I love passthroughs, so I hope you go through with it.
