I know it's controversial as to whether or not it actually gives you popcorn lung from vaping it, but I wanted to see if anyone in the DIY community is avoiding it. I've been making my own liquid for 2 years now and am thinking about avoiding diacetyl from now on as a precaution. Anyone know where to get flavors that do not have diacetyl?

Thanks for any info.

A ten day old post about a subject that has been beat so hard that if it were a horse you would go to jail for animal cruelty. Let it die.

The OP isn't wanting to debate it , he is simply asking where to get flavors that are diketone free.

"It's funny, we're all concerned if flavors have anything bad in them and yet we smoked for years knowing it was all bad. I'm going to be ...... if I get hit by a bus. My last thought is going to be "But God, I only vaped the good flavors"."

Like jb58, many of my flavorings are FA for their potency and accuracy. I find FA Pandoro particularly drool-worthy but it's in their Kitchen Line, hence, contains the bad stuff. I choose to avoid 'V2 and 'DX' versions of flavoring because I find the old, original flavorings yummier.

God bless those who avoid chems but please don't damn those of us who choose to do otherwise, To each his own; the risk, if any, is yours to take or avoid. Choice is a beautiful thing.

Harvard just published their study...
A standard stinky has almost 100x Diacetyl in it. Take a wild guess how many normal smokers have come down with Popcorn Lung since the original 8 (that worked in a popcorn factory..thus the name) in 1963? I will give you a hint it is a very round number. ( "0" )

Just a FYI , smoking related diseases are NEVER referred to as "popcorn lung" thus the reason why you will never hear about it . You also can not accurately say with certainty that all e juices have much lower amounts of diketone's in them compared to real cigs.

One very popular and expensive vendor alone showed levels considerably higher than real cigarettes.

This thread IS NOT about whether people should be concerned or not be concerned , why you felt the need to engage and attempt to start one is beyond me .

I felt the need to respond to your post though just to let people know not to judge possible harm on the way you worded your post , people have a right to do as they wish and your post indicates you think it's stupid , thats your opinion , others prefer to be more cautious .

Honestly, after 30 years of smoking, all the while being well aware of the health risks, I don't feel I'm deserving enough to get hit by a bus. That would be way too quick and painless. I have so much deep lying guilt and regret over smoking that sometimes I think it alone is enough to contract lung cancer from. I can't just let myself skate by with patting myself on the back for switching to vaping and say, "Hey, I smoked for 30 years, so who cares about a little diacetyl". Don't get me wrong, I'm totally happy I switched to vaping, it was like the first step in embracing a healthier all around lifestyle (I used to eat as bad as I smoked). But now I worry way too much about the potential health effects of my self-abusive past. You guys miss your usual morning sh*t, you think "prune juice". I miss it, I think "colon cancer". I'm way too hard on myself, and it all goes back to that self denying, smoker's mentality.

Anyway, I can't afford to not be concerned any more. Actually, I was always concerned, which is really the source of all this lingering guilt. Problem is, I bought all the caution tape flavors along with their DX/V2 counterparts (what possessed me to do that???), and of course I like the caution tape better. It goes way beyond mere flavor profiles. It's like I'm only truly satisfied when that self destructive element is there, yet the concern remains. Maybe I've just lived with it so long that it's like...cold comfort.

***hijacking starting***
Herb,
Not to side post or hijack, but please don't speak for me. I posted on a study giving information, just as is everyone's right to do so on these forums.
Yes I was paraphrasing but you can do your own research with google and find it for yourself.
I did not say it wasn't dangerous, I am just saying that there have been not one documented case of Popcorn Lung since the original 8 that worked in the popcorn factory. They cant even say what caused it other than one chemical is different than the other factories that made it. Take it for what it is.
Go forth and comment as you feel fit as I will not respond openly in this forum on this subject.
