Hi everyone,

Today I finally received my new Ijust S, after 3 weeks. I ordered it on Aliexpress from seller 'VapeOnly e-Cigarettes'. I assembled and filled it correctly, to my knowledge. However, the ecig is not functioning as it should. I can barely take a one-second hit because the tip is getting warm and the vapor is also hot. It hurts my throat and I have to cough almost every time. The battery gets extremely hot, if I keep the button pressed for 10 seconds it feels like it could explode at any moment. I can't imagine that should be the case.

Did I buy a replica? It was somewhat cheap, but the advert said 100% Original eleaf iJust S, and it had 4.9 out of 5 stars based on 1679 votes. If it's not a replica, what could the issue be? Hope someone can help me out!

Which head are you using?
Probably best to start with the .5Ω.
Is the airflow wide open or close to it?
It takes quite a bit of airflow to cool the head.
Did you properly prime the head before use?
Prime = Drip drops of liquid on all exposed wicking until fully saturated.
Are you trying to MTL / taking a restricted long smooth inhale, or DTL / wide open airflow short strong fast inhale?
This set up is geared more toward DTL / wide open airflow, clouds.
Holding the fire button for 10 seconds will rapidly build heat.

Buying off of Ali you certainly could've received a clone/knockoff, hard to say or tell.
Did you check authenticity via eleaf's web site & the security code on the packaging?

It's possible you got a clone but if your device came with a verification code, you could check it. That doesn't solve your immediate problem of your vape malfunctioning, but at least you'll have a starting point. Watch some reviews on how to use the device, including how to properly prime your coil. 10 second hits are fairly long. Do you get a satisfying vape at a shorter pull? Perhaps if you have your watts really too high (you don't have to go with the coil's recommended wattage by the way) and are using super long pulls that may be causing the overheating, especially if something is off with wicking. Another thing to check if you haven't would be your airflow, you may need to open it more to get a good volume of air going in your tank.

These are all simple things, if the problem continues I might bring it to your local Brick and Mortar vape shop if you have one, to make sure you are setting up correctly. Could also watch YouTube video demonstration/reviews of your setup to make sure the settings are all good....

It could certainly be your equipment as well, which is why I am suggesting maybe a vape shop. Don't know how it would be going trying to get a refund/warranty from Alibaba (never used them) which is why I'd suggest checking early on in case you have to try a warranty/replace situation, which I'm not sure I'd greatly enjoy doing with Alibaba.

Are your batteries genuine and did you buy them from a reputable supplier? That could (also) be causing your issues... I know, fun right? I'd consider taking a look at this: Mooch's blog | E-Cigarette Forum to make sure your batteries are genuine.

Best of luck,

Anna

The first thing I do when I receive a product is scratch the verification code and check. Even boxes of coils and tanks.

Thanks all for your contributions. At first I checked the legitimacy on the Eleaf website, and it appears to be a genuine product. Next I changed it to the only coil I had left that I hadn't tried yet, the 0.5 one. The first two were 0.18 and 0.3, and they both had the same problem for me. I also didn't prime the coils correctly the first two times, I think. Now with the 0.5 one, primed, it seems to be working fine! I didn't know about the DTL/MTL aspects, so I guess I was expecting something different too, coming from an iStick Mini + Aspire Nautilus setup. I don't regularly take 10 second hits, more like around 5, but I feel like that wasn't even possible with the 0.18 and 0.3 ohm coils. Anyway, thanks for your help, problem solved :)
