So I'm a stay at home dad with 3 kids. Ones 4, another 2, and ones 7 months. My 2 year old is VERY interested in me vaping. Whenever i leave my computer chair he steals my vamo and tries to take a toot on it. In the morning he gets out of bed before me and goes to my desk and searches for it.

I've tried putting up a baby gate, scolding him and hiding it. He someway or another seems to get ahold of it if i dont carry it in my pocket (which isnt that easy for a vamo with a tank on it). So I decided to give him one of my dead ego-c batteries all set up with the ego tank system and stuff on it. Theres no atomizer in it and the tank has never been used before and i took out all the little plastic pieces that could come out and choke him.

So there's no way this thing could hurt him at all. But as I'm watching him try and vape this thing, I'm wondering, did i do the right thing? I mean it keeps him from grabbing mine and it gives him a new "toy" but now my son looks like he's addicted to nicotine rofl. When my friends see him "using it" or playing with it, w/e u want to call it... Im sure they'll say "Wow, Really Bob? lol" but I'm sure if someone i didnt know saw him doing it they'd call me a terrible parent.

What do yall think?

Ref Minor- I can't really not vape in front of my kids. I'm alone with them 8 hours a day every day.

bacc.vap- How is sucking on a battery bad if its unpowered? Also, a toy wont work because he knows what it is, he's smart little guy and will know the difference.

I'm not worried about others seeing him because it's not like I'm gonna say "Here buddy here's your ego." when we go to the store, lol.

Hill - I think you're right. He's had it put down for awhile now and is playing with something else. He's just really interested in what his daddy's doin and w/e hes trying to get ahold of and I tell him no he cant, he wants it more.

I told my wife what I did and she doesn't have a problem with it at all.

Sounds like your problem is pretty much already resolved :)
I can understand your flustration & solution to the problem. I'ld just keep it "in house" so to speak; like you are all ready doing.

I just want to say that even at a very young age, if my parent told me to not touch something and I touched it again I got punished. and I continued to get punished until I learned that when they said No they meant it
I grew up to be a perfectly fine and unscarred adult!
hopefully he will put the "toy" down at some point as has been suggested and not get hold of your device with nic in it...........and I hope and pray you have your liquid secured!

LOL, you have a precocious li'l tyke in your hands. You're going to have to steer his attention away from mimicking your vaping. He's very curious and very observant and there's nothing wrong with that, and yes, you're a good dad.

How about if you let him play outside with mud, or let him use the computer playing games for young children, or anything that can capture his curiosity enough for him to not think about pv's?

So how many of you parents that smoked have had your kids get a hold of your analogs because they were interested and end up eating them? I think nearly every smoking parent I know has had that happen at least once. All it takes is just one time leaving them low enough to reach or on a table with an accessible chair and the kid gets them.

A dead eCig is MUCH safer to play with than eating analogs. I would definitely not let them take it out in public but at home behind closed doors, it allows them to satisfy their natural curiosity without fear of harm or poisoning.

OP, you are a good Dad, nevermind what anyone says, I've learned to ignore anything that's said on the internet. I've been in your shoes as a SAHD too and whatever works is what's best. This place is full of rotten opinions, and armchair heroes... Vape on!!!

well, he asked our opinions. when one asks for opinions one needs to be prepared to hear opinions, whether they agree with your opinions or not!
I don't really agree with your opinion, but I won't call it a rotten one...........
