Did I do that?

I have noticed that when I vape my DIY unflavored juice, I start feeling funny. My face feels flush and I just feel "off."

I used the ejuice me up calculator and applied the nic amounts for my 60mg nicotine to arrive at a 24mg final. I am also using the wal mart humco brand glycerine.

I have tried vaping this and I think it's wonderful except that I start feeling bad after a few toots. When I lay off of it, I start feeling better. Also when I vape "store bought" juice, I feel fine.

Any ideas what I could have possibly done wrong? I mixed an 80/20 at 24 mg as per the ejuice me up calculator. Unfortunately I do not have the exact amount of everything I used. I made 50 mls and, if I recall correctly used 20 mls of 60mg nic (in PG), 20 mls of PG and 10 mls of VG.

Does this look off to you guys? It's what the calculator showed to use.

where did you get the nic from? there is a thread around here where someone mentions that they believe they got much stronger nic than was labeled from Box Elder. perhaps you got some from that batch and maybe it is actually higher than the 60mg that it is labeled?

I got it from RTS Vapes. It certainly seems like it could be higher.

Your formula looks right, to get to 24mg....
could be the nic strength. I've read there is a way to test the nic level yourself- you could search on ECF and see if it is do-able.

I know it's do-able...and I know how via colorimetric titration. Now if I only had the reagents to perform it... :p

Yes, your cut is right. 50 ml x 24 mg/ml desired strength = 1200 mg of nic needed. 1200 mg / 60 mg/ml = 20 ml of your nic base needed.

Humco glycerine is generally fine -- check the bottle label to make sure you didn't get something already expired (shouldn't happen). It should be an odorless, thick, clear, liquid, the bottle clearly stating Glycerin USP, no other ingredients.

PG source?

Yes, that's what I got...clear, odorless thick Glycerine USP 99.5%. PG is from RTS Vapes as well. I'll try cutting with water.

Jusy a thought- was either of the PG or VG a new bottle? If so you could do a few vapes with an atty to see if either gives you that 'feeling'.
Same for the carto (or atty) you are using- if new- maybe it has some 'residue' in it??

They were both from a new bottle but I have tried the juice (not the straight PG or VG) on a brand new carto and it still happens. I've started vaping some FS 555 and I don't feel bad at all. When I vape my DIY a few minutes later...here we go again. It really seems to mimic nic overdose.

Add a little straight PG to a fresh carto, vape it, should basically have nothing (a little vapor). Assuming the PG is clean, you can try topping it off with a little of the straight VG, repeat vaping, to ensure nothing happens. Assuming that is the case, then by definition it is isolated to the nic liquid, contact the vendor for a replacement (they may ask for the bad batch to be sent back, so they can test it).
As a comparison, the carcapp I sent you is 24mg; I'm highly confident in that nic base, use it for my own daily vaping.

Got it. I'll give it a shot, for sure. I knew you mixed to 24 mg...that's why I used it. Looks like I may have to wait to try all this though. Just found out F-I-L passed away. Guess we'll be gone a while. Thanks everybody!

JMO but my guess is mislabeled nic or an error filling his order. I'm a n00b in this area and others are smarter than me here, but -

Does the bottle *say* 60mg? If you mixed 100mg nic - regardless of who made the mistake - your mix is about 40mg/ml and would explain all your symptoms.

If can make up some 0mg 80/20 try making a small sample batch and cut your juice - 3 parts of what you have now to 2 parts 0mg 80/20. If you did mix 100mg nic that should bring you down to 24mg and the problem should go away. If that doesn't work maybe try vaping both the PG and the VG at 0mg to see if either of them cause the problem, but this kinda sounds like a nic overdose.

Yea, I planned on doing just that. The nic is labeled 60 mg. But I really think either I'm a doofus (actually pretty sure about that) or the nic was mis labeled. I have a background in chemistry and I'm used to mixing reagents, so I really don't think I did it incorrectly...but I've been wrong before (been married thrice.)
