Did I just hack my own brain?

So when I bought my first e-cig (yes, I know...a PV!), my intention wasn't to quit smoking, it was merely to smoke less. I work at my computer a great deal, and I found that - especially on weekends! - most of my day was chain-smoking in front of my computer. I decided this was a rather terrible habit, and got a USB passthrough with a dripping atomizer in hopes that I would use the vaporizer more than the analogs.

I found the whole thing excessively fiddly and never used it more than a few drops at a time. Constant leaks and messes...but I was still intrigued by the idea, so I did some research, and (lo and behold) found myself here. I saw the constant mentions of vivi novas and VV Egos (along with the 'pro' talk of more expert vapers which confused the hell out of me ), so I picked up the Egos and the mini novas. I also picked up some 30mg nicotine juice from a vendor I can't recall (the taste was terrible), and pretty soon I started preferring the vape, even though I was still craving analogs.

Anyway, I think switching to the very high-nicotine liquid got my brain to "re-wire" itself into preferring the higher nicotine from the e-cig, and pretty soon I didn't want to smoke at all anymore. I'm back down to 18mg liquid now, and plan on scaling back further, but I think the high-nic stuff got me off the cigarettes pretty painlessly.

Anyway - tonight is my two-month anniversary of being smoke-free, and I'd like to say hi to the community who helped me get this way!

Congrats on 2 months!
I use the 3.5ml vivi novas myself and have found them excellent. I'm usually vaping 12mg now, or lower. I can relate to the higher nic doing the trick in the beginning.
I had started with nicotine patches but had a sensitivity to them. Thank goodness for vaping.
Nice to read your post and hear how you've been smoke-free. Thank you - these sort of posts are encouraging.

That is exactly what happened to me! I was just going to cut down, then I realized I didn't need a cigarette!

CONGRATULATIONS on 2 months smoke free. Isn't it great??

Oh, and WELCOME to ECF. There is a lot of great information on here, and lots of friendly people just like you to help should you need advice.

I started with 12mg (thank goodness) but was vaping like a freight train at the beginning. It was also with the Vivi Nova, go figure.

I was buzzed pretty hard cause I couldn't put it down. It was the novelty of it. My last pack of smokes I bought at the end of October are still in the car. I've had no urge to light any of them up, which I think is a truly remarkable thing!

Good for you! That tobacco precipitate didn't do your computer any good, either.

I'm like you. I had to gradually cut down on cigarettes while replacing them with vaping. Then I quit smoking entirely.

Chances are what you call higher levels of nicotine from vaping wasn't actually more nicotine than you got from smoking. You simply matched it. Vaping nicotine is a much less efficient means of delivering nicotine than smoking.

Oh no, I assure you, this was higher levels of nicotine. Pretty sure I gave myself a mild case of nicotine poisoning more than once.

Congratulations on the two months. When I started vaping back on Oct 30 - like you it was not to quit - just to cut down on the 1 1/2 PAD that I was smoking. Once I got my eGo Twist and some better (higher nic) juice on Nov 22 - I just quit smoking and still can't believe that after 46 years I am not smoking

I too agree that ECF and the great support you get here has also helped me a lot!
