Hey, I've been noticing my menthol juice may have gone bad. It is so acidic it tastes like vaping battery acid. I read somewhere where someone described rancid juice having a taste like vile vinegar. Could my menthol turned rancid? It's just not one bottle either. Or maybe my taste buds are changing because I vape other flavors?

This sucks, as I loved menthol, but now it just tastes plain awful. :(

Big Jim--Where did you get it and how did you store it? Thanks Sun

I bought it form WetYourStick. I never had a problem with it before and I stored it in the fridge in a zip lock bag as it can get quite warm in my apartment during the day I'm at work and I know keeping it in a warm area will ruin it. All my other flavors are fine, just the menthol. Never had a problem with the juice I get there.

I did notice trying it in a new cart the acidic taste is not as bad, so it may be the carts I was using. It may be just my nose and taste buds are changing over time too. I opened the bottle of menthol I got from bestecigs with my kit and it smells pretty much the same. I'm begining to think more now that it's not the juice changing, it's me and my equipment (using new atomizer, for example).

I just found the thread about your experiance storing in the fridge ruining your juice, so for now my juice stays out of the fridge. 8-o

Sun, how long had your juice been in the fridge? This really is beginning to worry me. My house is pretty warm until December.

That is the problem--I stored mine in the fridge for 3 months and only took one out to check it and it tasted just like what Big Jim is reporting (rancid and vial). I lost a ton of money but glad I wised up.

The PG MSDS states that the the following:

Storage and Handling Practice: Store only in approved containers. Keep away from any incompatible materials or conditions. Store in a dry ventilated area at a temperature of 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Protect from light.

Since I had put it on the Fridge (which is 40 degrees--19 degrees lower then the MSDS states---That is why I lost it. So much for the Fridge.

Good enough for me, juice stays out of the fridge until I find an alternate method of storage.

I've made a determination on it though. My Menthol is OK. The changes are a new cartridge and using a new atomizer since the demise of my original one. Plus vaping different flavors made a change in my senses. I'm breaking in the new atty and new cart using nothing but Menthol, and the flavor is returning to normal. It was the strangest thing though, this morning it was like vaping vinegar or battery acid.

Other thing that is different is what I can only best describe as a "skunk" aftertaste in some instances. It's a taste that can only be best described as the smell you get whilst passing a skunk roadkill on the highway and it fills your cars cockpit with a God awful aroma, but the only thing is it's lingering in my mouth and nose. That I am contributing to the filler going bad in my cart. testing the flavor in a new cart removed from the shrink wrap does not have that aftertaste.

You learn something new every day. :)

Big Jim--I have to tell you I lost a ton of e-liquid in the Fridge and I was ripping needless to say. It tasted vial. And it was from four different suppliers. All sealed. Only upshot for me was that I found out about it in time to restockpile and cut my loses. I should have checked the MSDS first before listening to some "vodoo" advise I got.
