Did my new eGo 650 twist just die?

Howdy folks,

Well, I hooked up one of my 2 twists this morning to charge it, was vaping on the other. I went to get the one that was on the charger, charger light had turned green, unscrewed the twist, screwed on the vivi mini, raised it to my lips, and took a vape. Nothing. Thought maybe it was turned off. Looked down at the switch to hit it 5 times, light on the batt was blinking. Don't know how many times it blinked. Afterwards, nothing.

So, is there some form of troubleshooting I can do? Something I should check? The vivi I was using works on the other batt. Neither of the vivis I own work on the one batt. So, other than contact AltSmoke (which I have done via their email, batt is less than 2 weeks old) is there anything else I can do?

Thanks folks,
Big Mac

I agree, clean all connections on the battery, the charger and the vivi's. I do this fairly frequently. Those batteries should be able to be charged about 250 times. While they are disposable, I think 2 weeks is way out of line and if it isn't the connection being gunked, you may have just gotten a lemon.

I was having similar trouble with charging an eGo battery this week. I put it on the charger, sometimes would take a couple times unscrewing and then screwing it back on to get it going right, with the red light and lit button. I got out my reading glasses yesterday (almost as good as magnifying glass, and don't need a spare hand!) and a good flashlight, and saw a bit of discolouration at the base of the post, by the threads.

Cleaning this with alcohol and a toothpick, I lifted out one of those dots from punching a new cartridge. How it got there I do not know, but the battery is now charging up properly. Also cleaned out the charger connection, just in case. Nothing else appears to be amiss.

I don't know if this happens on Egos too, but on Rivas occasionally you have to gently pry up the center (positive) contact on the battery, just a little. A small tack, just between the metal center contact and the silicone insulator around it, pry the metal up just barely, at two spots 180 degrees apart around the contact.

(Sometimes a carto or atty pushes the battery's contact down just a bit, so it doesn't make proper contact with the charger.)

The center contact pry up is something you would do before putting it on the charger -- see if the charger now turns red. (What happens is a carto pushes the contact down, then there is no/poor contact when it gets put on the charger.)

Probably just an early failure, but the above is something I had to get used to back when using fat battery 510s.
