I use a eGo-T 1000 mah battery. Yesterday my seller showed me a joyetech eVic which was almost 6 times as expensive as the ego-T setup I had.

I tried the eVic - not extensively. Maybe just a couple of puffs to be not able to make out much of a difference. What exactly do people smoking a mod see more satisfying compared to a basic setup? I could see the eVic had fancy stuff such as #of puffs left in the battery etc. but could not really make out much of a difference due to increased/reduced voltage etc.

This is a very basic newbie question, so please bear with me if it seems ridiculous.

thanks.:)

the term "Mod" came from people back in the pioneering days "modding or modifying" things like flash lights and turning them into e-cigs.

a Mech mod is just a tube to hold the battery with a switch to turn it on or off. this is great because you can use the full amount of power the battery can deliver. mech mods are great for sub ohm cloud making RDAs. but they can also be pretty dangerous if not used properly.

a VV / VW or Variable Voltage / wattage mod is a mod that allows the user to adjust the amount of power that is being sent to the atomizer. this is great because you can fine tune your device to produce the best flavor or how warm you want the vapor to be. they have an amp limit for safety reasons, most VV mods will not fire a sub ohm atomizer. but there are a few out on the market right now that will and they are not cheap and the wait is long.

I went from what you have to an evic as my next battery device. What it does -
Allows you to replace the battery in the tube rather than through the whole device away when the battery dies
Allows you to continue vaping while charging the battery (called a pass through)
Allows you to adjust the power, different juices perform better at different temperatures (called variable voltage VV & variable wattage VW)
Allows you to pre-set VV VW settings
Allows you to install upgrades & view device history/information on your computer
Allows you to see how many puffs you have taken, battery life left, current power on an LED screen

These types of mods are also called APVs (Advanced Personal Vaporizers.) My advice, take your time and read up on what's out there. Figure out what, if anything, above is important to you. What sits on top of the battery that processes your juice (cartomizer, clearomizer, rebuildable, dripper) is as important as the battery device for flavor, amount of vapor cloud and performance.

A quality regulated or mechanical mod can deliver a totally customized vape. They are a must have if one starts into re-buildable atomizers. I own several rba tank systems. All with different builds ranging from .3-1.3 ohms. With my current regulated mods can run my builds at 20-30 watts. I can tweek my styles of builds by using different combos of wire, mesh, wick and ohms. Also mix DIY juice, so can totally customize my vape. I pretty much love all things vape.

11 months ago I started out on cig-a-likes, in my search for that something missing and finding this forum, my vape knowledge increased and so did my gear. Never thought I'd have a collection, but that's what I now have. Never thought I'd want to wrap coils and mix juice either. But turns out the most trouble free and satisfying vape exists once you have learned to build competently and maintain your gear. But to get there one has to start somewhere.

that is correct in today's term a device purchased is just that. however anything besides an auto battery device is an APV. The term mod was just as happydave said. it was modifing anything sold as something else so we could use it to vape.

I always read that as "modification" too, but now that modern "mods" are original, dedicated vaping devices, you could also say "mod" means "modular". With the standardization of 510 threading and what not, you're able to fit any brand of 510-threaded "battery container and control unit" section to any brand of 510-threaded tank/carto, clearo or RDA. Modular components. "Mods".

Just an idea...

I started about 6 months ago with BLU then graduates to the same 1000mah ego that you are using and after a few months it went the way of the do-do so I got an mvp2, which is not a mod perse but does give you vv/vw and now I'm looking to get my first "mod".
It's a slippery slop once you get into all this lol.
Just keep in mind that I'd you like it vape it.
