The short answer is that PG renders better flavor & TH, but PG produces greater amounts of vapor.

PG is used in fog machines; it's hygroscopic and tends to be somewhat dehydrating. If you're vaping all PG, it's a good idea to drink a lot of fluids to compensate.

I'm pretty sure one of these is meant to be VG?? :p

Here is a good post about it, along with links to safety docs
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...able-glycerin-vg-polyethylene-glycol-peg.html

Some people are allergic or sensitive to one or the other (more often PG)

But according to one poll I saw, most people like juices that are a PG/VG mix. Some popular ratios are 70pg/30vg, 80pg/20vg and some like 50/50. I have mostly been using 70/30. Some places like Gourmet Vapor and FreedomSmokeUSA let you chose between a variety of ratios.

If you want more info on PG wikipedia has a rather informative article on it's uses, possible side effects and chemical formula.
It is a component of some asthma inhalers to create a vapor for delivery of meds. The safety of PG seems to cause a controversy among many of my friends who vape. I started a thread on another site involing the safety of PG and it nearly got me kicked off...although I DID NOT claim that I had factual info that made it unsafe to vape. I work in a hospital and the MSDS/warning labels say to only use it in well ventilated areas. Now just for the record I am not anti PG. I actually use PG and VG in many of my mixes. Straight PG is bothersome to my respiratory tract. Straight VG is a bit too sweet at times. LorAnn flavoring has PG in it so when I use it mixed with my straight VG/water juice, it gives very satifying vapor.

Ironically, I just changed my avatar to a nasal pillow mask! (respiratory device LOL)

I think the same characteristics that give PG good TH can also make 100 percent PG a bit harsh on my tongue, leaving a sort of tingly feeling. Some VG in the mix makes it smoother and for me, a fuller feeling vapor (may just be because you can see it better).

When you try different ratios, note that the nicotine level also affects TH (nicotine adds a bit of TH). And I think the flavors can make a noticeable difference too. Just like other flavored items, you'll probably feel more TH from things like cinnamon and mint, a bit less from some tobacco flavors, and even less from mellow flavors like cream and peach. And the flavor difference also depend on the mixer and whose flavorings they are using etc.
