Hi, luckily, I just found this site this evening. I smoked for 45 years until I had a heart attack in 2010. At that point, I stopped cigarettes all together. I started using Mystic brand ecigs about 2 months ago simply because I missed the physical feel of smoking. I found them very soothing and it helped a lot. I couldn't find the brand "mystic" at my usual place of purchase (Pilot travel center), so I went online and ordered some from Canada. I noticed that when I got them they were called Mistic cigarettes. The first ones I got Mystic are made in China, The Mistics are made in Canada.
Can someone tell me if there is a difference? I mean a difference in health concerns. I know the one from Canada have more nicotine than the ones from China. I've been trying to find health information on the Web but there is so much information out there that I don't know who to believe.
My husband swears that none of these ecigs are safe and urged me to do more research. Can someone shed more light or direct me to a site that puts the information in plain terms?
Thanks very much for you help, I will be watching for replies.
Susan:blush:

first and foremost: welcome to ECF!

generally speaking, an electronic cigarette will contain just nicotine, flavoring, and a base liquid (either PG or VG)...so overall, it's still WAY healthier than smoking analog cigarettes, which contain about 4000 more chemicals...however, you may notice a taste difference, as different brands will use different flavor agents.

as far as the overall "healthy" aspect, nicotine alone is about as harmful to you as caffeine...and electronic cigarettes are generally referred to as "safe" on these forums, as most of the users, including myself, see health benefits from switching away from analogs.

moving on: if you so choose, you will most likely be ok to continue vaping...however instead of using these mystic or mistic brands, you may wish to switch to a superior product, like a volt...or even step up to an eGo....both of which will probably give you superior performance in the long run, and both have options on fully refillable cartridges, saving you tons on ordering buying cartos/ a new kit every time....whichever way you decide to go, hope you find everything you need, and happy vaping!

Welcome to ECF!! You found the right place for research...:) There's thousands of vapers here who have been doing it for years ready to help.

Looking around the Mystic may be an unpopular thread and hard to find parts for, (they want you to keep coming back to them for overpriced supplies)

Depending on how much you're using it, something like this would work well Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Basic Starter Kit - Starter Kits
and you can get the cartridges in any strength you like, or need even 0 nicotine (just vapor..:))

If you just started vaping because you missed the experience and ritual I would suggest using 0 nicotine in what ever final solution you decide on. Why readdict yourself? Nicotine has been shown (according to articles I've read that were linked to from this forum) to not have any lasting effects. However, it is a stimulant and can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. It is also processed by your liver and I've read here of doctors of patients with liver issues forbidding vaping to their patients.

The other ingredients (PG, VG and flavorings) should be fit for human consumption. However, with the exception of PG, there haven't been a lot of studies involving the long term effects of inhaling these chemicals.
