It could be machine oil which happens sometimes, especially with certain premade coils, so normally cleaning any tank/RDA before using is a good idea.
It could be the cotton that you are using or even the eliquid itself.
What are you using i.e (wire, cotton, liquid)

There are, unfortunately, a great number of things it might be. What topper did you use to vape this liquid you love before you bought your clone RTA? How was it coiled? Did it use pre-fab coils, or built coils? Are you using the same number of coils at the same resistance in your Reload, or have you changed this? What about wattage of the vape? If your previous tank used pre-fabs, are you using the same wicking material as those coils did? Have you switched wire types?

In other words, anything you might have changed switching to a new tank might be the cause, or part of the cause. As @Tonee N suggests, their might be manufacturing lubricant residue you didn't clean. Breaking it down and giving it a good cleaning is always a good idea. If that doesn't fix it, think about whagt else might have changed from your old tank to your new one, and let us know.

I will say with certain clones the flavor may not be as good, but sometimes clones come along that people prefer to the originals, so it's really almost impossible to say.

If you give us more info about what you ^were* using and what you are using now, (as far as build and wicking) there may well be ways to improve the flavor you are getting.

Is this your first reload, or have you had better experiences with the original reload? First RTA in general? What build do you have in there and have you tried more than one build? Etc.

A clone is a clone. The technical aspects should be identical. The airflow should be the same. The build deck should be the same. The flavour and vapor production should be the same with identical coils.

Clones are usually different in finish, build quality, and quality assurance.

If it tastes different it's not because it's a clone, it's because corners were cut. I.e. machine oil residue is a common thing (as metioned above).
