"Performance" is very subjective. I get some pretty good flavor and vapor off my $7 tasting rda with a simple 2.5 ohm, Kanthal, 30g, 2mm, 10 wrap single coil at 14 watts... steam

I vape coils with ohm ratings from 1.4-2.0 and wattages from 10 to 13 watts and i get great flavor and more vapor than i care for .

If you are vaping lower ohm coils in the 8 to 11 watt range make sure you don't have a mod with an early power shutoff feature.

There is no set rule on what ohm range and wattage range you must vape at , it's all personal preference.

I recently purchased a new mod (Kanger SUBOX Nano). It came with .5 Ohm coils. The place where I found the best price for replacements is out of the .5 ohm. I think the coils on my old mod were 1.5 Ohm and I was happy with them although they were a different type. I'm trying to make sure I won't be disappointed in the 1.2ohm before I purchase a bunch of them in bulk. I really don't understand the nuances of this electrical stuff. All I do know is I generally vape at 7-7.5 watts . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, ~metafizik

How a coil performs depends on more than the ohms.
It also depends on
wire gauge
wire type
whether single or multicoil

nowadays, modern coil heads often come with a recommended power range printed on them

I don't have the 1.2Ω coil to try but I agree. I can't see how a 1.2Ω coil would run well at 8 watts. If the coil was +1.8Ω, then that low of a power level would make more sense (to me). I don't think Kanger makes a coil for the nano/mini at that high a resistance.
It's been a while since I used the 1.2 ohm stock coils but if I remember correctly they did fine at 10 to 12W for mouth to lung style.

I finally wore one of the 1.2's out after a month. Yep does a good MTL and the 1.5 is even tighter and better MTL.
But you do need a narrow bore driptip.

Agree, I put on a narrow bore acrylic tip when I was using the subtank mini. Now I'm loving my triton mini and kabuki clone with 1.6 ohm nautilus coils.
