Differences between cartomizer attys

What are the differences between the atty that comes with the eGo units and the 306 cartomizers? I was experiencing too much TH and flavor with what comes standard in the package. I had some 306 cartomizers laying around that I used for my Blu. Upon using these cartos on my eGo, the excessive TH & flavor went away and went to a level which was perfect for me.

Or is it that I didn't clean the new atty good enough?
