Hello everyone. I am in the process of ordering my first Reo and with the website being down I would really like to know which finish is the most durable.
I have decided on a LP grand but can not decide on a finish. I really like the black wrinkle, hammer tone, or the silver vein. But they are all just gorgeous. I would appreciate any and all knowledge of this. Thank you all!

Hey, ctinnin, good to see you in here.

The manufacturer, Rob (redeyedancer), claims that hammertone is the most durable, but any of the ones you listed are good for wear. It's not that other finishes aren't, mind - the reo is a very sturdy device. If you're into colour, there's a lot to choose from - everything from orange to metallic purple to white to......

It's just a pity that the site is down right now (a rarity, BTW - Rob's just had to switch payment methods and is encountering issues with the web developers). You might want to hop onto a thread or two in here where peeps are posting pics of their setups to whet your appetite. Heck, even just google reo to see scads of images of them in the wild.

That is exactly what I have been doing. Been checking every image I can find out there. I'm not really into that much flash. So I'm sure I have decided on this . Here is my list.
1 x Lp Reo Grand black wrinkle/hammer tone
1 x Rm2 lp
1 x grand black wrinkle spare door
1 x black delrin button cover
2 x 6 ml bottles
2 x reducer tubes
1 x reo grand repair kit.
2 x spare springs.
and there it is. If i have left anything out please let me know. If not I'm going to go ahead and send this order. I'm sure it won't be worked up until monday but I will have a head start.

What a well thought out list. A spare o-rings or two are always nice to have around, just sayin'. I was under the impression that the repair kit came with the spring. Is it necessary to have that many extra springs. I am still relatively new and am not sure but I need to find out and get myself prepared. I'm sure the more knowledgeable reo people will help you and me too. Isn't it exciting? Will be glad when the site is back up because I enjoy just going there and looking. Seemed to comfort me.

Good list, cctinnin.

The black wrinkle with a hammer door is slick, and nice idea to hedge your bets with the spare matching door.

You got the LP version of the RM2, so all good there, and you've got pretty much all of the things needed to in a set up order. Most folks miss the extra springs, in particular.

Only a couple of minor thoughts to add...

* maybe skip the reducer tubes - prolly not much use in today's vaping landscape with higher yield RDA's.
* wouldn't hurt to throw in some extra o-rings - 1 x 10 mm for seating the atty in the catchcup, 6 ml bottle o-rings.
* black delrin button cover is nice, aluminum or brass might suit the colour scheme better, depending on the finish of the atty (your call, of course).

ETA: Oh, and some spare RM2 screws and door magnets wouldn't hurt, either.

Great ideas papa. I will most definitely add all of those to my list. I never want to be caught and have to wait for a spare part that I should have already had. I've been there before. And Rat2chat2. It more than likely is not Necessary to have that many spare springs. However, if there ever is a problem and we have a short and the hot spring collapses it will never be safe again. Chances of it functioning the way it is supposed to twice are very very slim. It should be pitched and replaced. And you are right. The repair kit does include one. But i have ordered items other places and had to use a spare part immediately due to a faulty piece. We should always be prepared. I've found that if I prepare for the worst I'm never disappointed.

My :2c:

I know you said you weren't into 'flashy' but are you sure you don't wanna pick out a different color for the second door?

You will get one reducer tube with your kit. Really not needed unless you are running extremely thin liquids. Never used one myself.

I'm not sold on new users needing a repair kit, except if you live some place where shipping is going to be a royal pain. There isn't a lot you can do to break the switch parts. It won't hurt to get it, but you may never use it either. One or two spare springs however are always a good idea.

Agree with Raynman - get some extra o-rings for your atty. It's an easy thing to misplace. Your RM2 will come with a 1.0 thickness o-ring. The 1.5 thickness allows you to place the atty in a slightly different position if needed.

May want to add a replacement tube/bottle cap. If you can't get the odor out from an 'exceptional' liquid flavor replacing the feed tube and cap may be the only way to do it.

Couple few extra of those tiny screws for the RM2 - another easy thing to lose track of.

I'm pretty sure about my color choices. I would like to have a entirely matching mod in black wrinkle. And the hammer tone door. To be honest I'm doing it this way so if I buy another one I can get a hammer tone body and mix and match. But it was/still is a hard choice between. Wrinkle Black, hammer tone and silver vein. All three are wonderful. Never know about me. I may be better off to just wait until the 2nd and check for sure what is indeed in stock. But unfortunately I'm an instant gratification type of person. This has been such a long wait for me to be able to purchase one that I want one yesterday.

I know it's frustrating right now - it is for all of us with the web site going dark. For us "slightly seasoned" Reo users it's easy for us to cobble together an order out of context of the site. But for a first time order it would be a lot easier if you could see what's what. If you still wanna proceed the best thing to do would be to give Rob a call and chat him up. He can help put the order together for you - like he knows what the o-rings are you would be buying that go under your RM2 - but you have the disadvantage of not being able to see what the heck we are talking about.
