Hey all greetings and hello!
Good to be here.
I was wondering how i would go about dilluting 100mg/ml nicotine vg based to a 50mg/ml based on 50/50% vg-pg...
Would i just mix the liter of 100mg/ml vg nicotine with a liter of pg?
Just wanna make sure with you guys before i go about it... would appreciate any tips if anyone has to share
Thx

No. It’ll be 50/50 because the nic is in a vg base.

If you have a bottle of 1 liter of 100 mg/ml nic in VG and you add 1 liter of PG...It can not possibly be 50% PG 50% VG. There will be a small amount more of PG. The NIC is part of the volume

100mg/ml is 10% nicotine. While precautions should be taken, it is not caustic or anything. I do wear eye protection (glasses) but I do not wear gloves or apron. If I spill some on me I just go wash it off. You don't want to leave it on there and give it time to soak in and certain individuals may have a supper sensitivity so it may bother them a little but other than that you should be fine. I have spilled 100mg all over myself on more than one occasion, I just washed it off and had no ill effects. Do not get it on your hands and then rub your eye because that stings and definitely don't do it a second time just a week later because then you will have a burny eyeball and be really ...... at yourself.

I think you will find the 10% nic. (100mg/ml) to be the easiest to work with and as long as basic safety is followed, it is not any kind of terrible hazard.

As for 48 mg/ml nicotine the main reason that is a common dilution for sale instead of 50 mg/ml has to do with shipping restrictions in many locations.

Nicotine above 48 mg/ml is considered to be hazmat material in many locations and can only be shipped by ground while 48 and below can be shipped air or mail.

I dont understand when i orderered it it said 100 mg/ml nicotine

There's a difference between 100mg/ml and 100% nicotine.

One is 100mg of nicotine in each milliliter of liquid, and the other is pure nicotine.

You can't vape either straight out, but for pure nicotine, you have to have a bunch of safety precautions, and I'm sure some sort of license.

100mg/ml concentration in a 100 ml bottle is indeed 90% vg. it's 10% by volume.

@Ethan diy, the thing is, it’ll be easier to store if you leave the bulk of it at 100 mg/ml, and just dilute maybe a quarter of it down at a time using the 50/50 method you mentioned. That’s what I do, anyway. I pour 60 ml of 100 ml/mg into my trusty mixing bottle (catsup bottle from Walmart) then add 60 ml of pg (or vg) and I have 120 ml of the 50 mg/ml nic juice to make a bunch of ejuice without having to mess with the 100 mg/ml stuff for quite awhile.

100mg/ml Nicotine in VG base is 10% Nicotine and 90% VG. 1 liter is 1000 ml. So you have in that liter 100 ml nicotine 900 ml VG by volume. When you add 1000 ml PG to it. You end up with 2000 ml which is 50 mg/ml nicotine or 5%, 45% VG and 50% PG by volume.

Yeah it didnt post the address....but its ok it looks like ill be able to handle it ... i read part of it
LOL, glad you found it. Guess I should have left the post contents.

Play with that calculator. Very simple for showing how base dilutions work. Gives you a good comfort level and double check without the complications of flavorings and more advanced calculators.

Since I vape unflavored, I really don't have a need for anything more complicated than this.

Good luck.

It looks like some sites are filtered by the forum and removed from URLs. Think I remember seeing this in the past.

The best reason I can see for diluting your nic base is that you won't have to handle nicotine in pure VG form. I have to do it as I am PG sensitive, and adding PG to the mix will mean it's far easier to handle, which is worth it in my opinion and you also will be starting out with a premixed "base" to which you just need to add flavors. Since most flavors are PG, if you flavor around 10% or close to it, your final mix will likely reach its 50/50 target. So you can dilute it 1:1, and then flavor accordingly once you need to. It will wind up being a lot less steps for DIY. Best of luck!

I do similar except I only get out 10 ml of 100 mg nic from the freezer and dilute to 20 ml of 50 mg for my working bottle, which isn't kept cold and is still fine for the 2 months or so that lasts. Yeah I don't use a lot. I don't use gloves with the 50 mg or any more care than I would with a concentrated flavoring (which could be an awful thing to spill for different reasons). The freezer bottle I'm working on is 3 year old WL that's had lots of air in it and is just starting to get the slightest yellow tint. Always be sure to let the freezer stash warm up enough it can be remixed before dispensing.

Yes. That’s exactly how you would go about it.
