Hello all! I've been analog free for about 3 weeks now and I love vaping with my ego. I've been dripping at home, but I prefer to use 510 cartos during the day (at work, in the car, etc). I've gotten some 100% VG juice from LF that I adore but filling cartos with it is sort of a PITA as it's kind of thick and doesn't seem to want to soak into the filler. Is there a way to cut this stuff without adding PG?

Thanks in advance,

beej

no problem bee, it depends on how much water you have to use as to whether you are going to lessen the nic. mostly you wont need to add that much to the vg to worry about the nic being cut too much. just add drops a couple at a time and shake good to mix. best to test small amounts first.. anything you use will lower the nic so best to test. it works for me and I cant tell that it is much less..

Hiya Beej and welcome to ECF!

I'm from Upstate too! I drip all the time but I just got a friend of mine to start vaping 2 weeks ago and I had to fill his carts for him. I went to the pet store and bought the blue foam sheets and cut it to 3/4 of the carts length. I filled the empty cart about 3/4 with Liberty Flights VG nic juice, pushed the blue strip of foam in it and then topped it off with a few more drops. He says it's working excellent and it never goes dry or leaks.

The blue foam came in sheets that were 8 x 10 in a package of 3 and they were $10. I do have enough foam now to last me for 50 years so if you are near Canandaigua, let me know:)

Hi Lori! I'm in Fort Plain, a little town about halfway between Albany and Utica. I haven't tried any modding of the carts that came with my kit yet, I'll give that a try thanks! :)

Remember, if you dilute to a thinner juice, you will also be diluting the flavor.

Dilute in very small batches and with great care or you may find your yummy juice is not quite so yummy anymore.

Thanks Paula, I thought I would wait for the empties I have on order to come in and I would try it in a 3ml bottle first. :)

Your Q may be open to interpretation - do you mean cartridges (carts) or cartomizers (cartos?) If it's a standard cart, then you need to pull the filler out with tweezers or a straightened paperclip, then fill it. Dripping onto the top of the filler is just a quick fix to get a few puffs. If cartos - then yes, it sounds like you need to reduce the viscosity if your particular filling method + carto type is giving problems. In your position I'd consider adding a spirit like rum, the alcohol content will tend to balance out the 'dampening' effect of adding water.

A flavor doubler or unflavored, zero-nic mixer liquid might be better though, if you can find them. Intellicig do a good VG mixer of the correct consistency, it is VG + DW + EM so well balanced. You lose nic strength and flavor though.

Instead of thinning it out, I would try the Taryn spin first. I've been doing that and it soaks in great! I took a tube sock and stuck in the end and wrapped a rubber band around it and then spun it around LOL (thread side down) I was amazed at how many times I could do that and your cartos will last alot longer. Here's a thread on it:

There may be other blue foam sheets, but I will tell you about the sheets I have. I have used these and been happy with the results. I use them in my cartridges when I'm not dripping.

The blue foam sheets I am talking about come from the pet store, specifically the fish department. It is used in aquariums. I purchased mine at Pet Smart. They cost around $6 to $8, if I remember correctly. One packet will last you a really Long Long LONG time!

Marineland Bonded Foam Sleeve - Type U, 3 sleeves in the pack. Fits Hot Magnum Canister Filters.

Here is a link to a Blue Foam Modification for Cartridges:

There are other threads here in the forum that discuss other blue foam options. You would be able to find them in a search for blue foam.

As I said, there may be other blue foam products. This is the one I am familiar with.
