I just got my Riva 901 kit yesterday and was on here talking it up. Worked great for the 1st 24 hours. I found the two standard resistance attys that came with the kit (silver threads) are both duds. Don't work at all.

I also ordered a 5 pack of EM 901 attys (LR), which Liberty Flights guarantees for a month of usage, so I screwed one of them in. It lasted one day!

I use VG juice, putting about 6 drops into the carts, and had probably gone through six carts prior to it atty crapping out. I put a new atty on and it worked fine.

Hope this is not a portend of the future with this system. I emailed their support to complain about the dud attys that came with the kit and ask for suggestions as to why the LR atty died so soon. I await their response.

Using carts with an LR atty probably isn't a good idea. They can't wick fast enough to keep up with the heat being generated by the atty and using VG juice is going to make wicking even slower. Dry atties = dead atties. Use the standard atties with your carts and use the LR for dripping.

Thinning your juice might help with the wicking when you're using standard resistance atties.

Well, I must say the folks at Liberty Flights are very responsive. I had a return email within one hour. Shame on me, the EM atty I thought had died in one day started working again when I thinned out the juice. They were going to send me three replacements, but I let them know I only needed two - for the duds that came with the kit. Great customer service.

What juice are you using? What PG/VG? New people with high VG juices are more likely to overheat attys. VG is sluggish and slow to reach the coil. If you do have high VG juices, they can be thinned with some distilled water or pure grain alcohol (the edible kind)

If your Riva 901 has the slotted battery post, then I think it will work with many KR808D-1 cartomizers. if it does not have the slotted post then you will need a 901 to 808 adapter for most KR8 cartos to provide air inflow.

I use thin juices with cartos - preferably thin clear juices that leave no flavoring sediment. 20% or less VG

School me here. What do you mean you should only drip with LR attys? That's what I have, LR attys.

The Riva 901 comes with empty carts. I drip some juice into them, about six drops and then plug the cart into the atty that is screwed to the battery.

Is there more to it than this? I've read of some folks here dripping directly into the atty? Didn't seem right to me. It seemed that would flood the atty or gunk it up.

Hello, welcome....Sorry you are having some trouble.......Dripping is just that onto the atty itself without the use of the polyfill......some members prefer that....using lr attys with polyfil in the cart causes the atty to dry out way too fast ....and too hot.....you got some good advise.....lots of learning to do with all of the verbage and trial and error associated with ecigs.....
happy vaping.

The ECF Guide to Direct Dripping will explain everything. I drip 95% of the time. It does take some practice to get it down and different atomizers will change the amount that you should drip. For instance, I only put three or four drops into my 901 and 510's, but my 801's take around 6-8 drops because it's a bigger atty.

Aladdin, you're just fine with the learning curve. As soon as you think you've got it all down, something new comes 'round the bend for you to learn. I've been vaping nearly ten months and I'm always amazed at how e-cigs have changed during this time.

Just be patient and take your time when you first start out with dripping. Once you get the hang of it, you'll love it!

Thanks fior the tips. I didn't have any grain alcohol on hand, so I cut the VG about 20% with vodka. Stoly to be exact.

Stoly is good--in moderation! Distilled water or plain PG works very well too.

Noticed mmediately that I got more vapor and the atty isn't getting as hot.

Good!

So, Katya, if I don't use carts with the LR atty, what do I use instead?

Like the experts above said, just direct drip! Forget the cartridge.

But I would give cartomizers a try also. You can get a box of Boge kr808 from Liberty Flights or LiteCig, for instance. Or you can get some Bloog or Volt (Bloogalike horizontal coil kr808 cartos) from Smokeless Image.

Or you can try my favorite 510 Boge cartos (2.0 or 2.5Ω) with an adapter. You'll need a 901>510 adapter. Come to think of it, you may consider also getting a 901>808 adapter, as not all kr808 cartos work with 901 batteries. Don't ask me why; just trust me!

Happy vaping!
